You can't say that the money to pay the workers doesn't exist, because Amazon's executives like Bezos got rich and they had the capital to expand into all kinds of new side businesses. The went from online storefront to parallel mail delivery service to essential internet platform infrastructure and beyond. You cannot possible argue that they did not have cash to burn.Not paying their workers more is a CHOICE, because they'd rather keep the money and let their workers be poor. Its unreasonable to pretend otherwise.
