Springfield Monorail

>bigger scam
That's not even a big project even if you call it a total scam. The California High Speed Rail is easily the "biggest" and is obviously a scam.
>>
>>543963366
I don't know shit about that but if it's carried even a single technician on a test run it's more functional mass transit than cali hsr is to this day EIGHTEEN YEARS after authorization.
>>
>>543963366
>>543963477
It's crazy how Musk got away with that. It was completely memory holed.
>>
>>543963477
High speed rail isnt inherently a scam despite the poor execution unc. The loop isn’t even a form of mass transit. It doesnt even justify its existence.
>>
>>543963505
Dear unc. HSR is a real form of transportation. Please leave you boomer politics out of this discussion.
>>
>>543963410
Lol. Maybe this because the monorail was designed to break down. But a monorail would actually be a valid form of mass transit.
>>
>>543963574
>is a real form of transportation.
To be transportation you need something people can sit or stand in and they have to move from one terminal to another. Cali hsr in 20 years has neither and is like 40 billion in the hole or something. Surely there's no bigger scam than that. At least I haven't heard of one.

LA to Vegas high speed rail has been two weeks away for like 20 years.
>>543963544
>High speed rail isnt inherently a scam
But the LA to Vegas project is. Elon's a massive grifter, but at least he dug some shitty tunnels and has something to show off.

>>
>>543963544
the CSHSR project is a scam and always was. High speed rail is not but there is no evidence that CSHSR ever intended to build any.
>>
>>543963366
This is a cover story
the true purpose of the boring company is to make tunnels and underground complexes for the elite
>>
>>543963651
I'm sympathetic to LA High speed rail project issues because I know the geography. Los Angeles is a really difficult site to get trains into the actual City. The only way to do it right, and what the Chinks or even Eurofags would do, is to build one of the world's most impressive rail tunnels through the Grapevine. Anything less will fail to deliver. THAT is infrastructure worth dumping $40 billion into but they're not doing it because your country is past it's sell-by date.
>>
>>543963651
>>543963620
If a bunch of faggots in California embezzled all the funds that doesnt make the HSR a scam. HSR exists all over the world and it works. Thats like saying a house you wanted to build was a scam because you were retarded and a contractor and your wife’s boyfriend stole all the funds. That doesnt make houses a scam. Or people that want to buy houses stupid, it just makes you stupid.
>>
>>543963789
Yeah but why did you pivot to trying to make this about HSR as a category of transit infrastructure. Are you saying tunnels are bullshit scams then? Or are we talking about specific implementations of the construction principles?

Am I being trolled right now? Is this an anti-railfag thread you're trying to get ginned up or something?
>>
>>543963749
Sort of. The true purpose was to prove the viability of the boring machines they designed. They're useful for all kinds of projects and much smaller, more mobile, and cheaper than the ones usually used for subways and shit. Musk is a military contractor keep in mind.

The actual vegas tunnels aren't bad at all it's just not serious people-mover by volume. It can serve as a framework for a future underground system in LV though. I don't think it's a waste and it didn't cost all that much because digging the tunnels isn't the expensive part it's filling them in with the train infrastructure (and digging out each underground stations).
>>
>>543963828
Tiny one lane tunnels are a scam you faggot. Name any other country that has made 12.5 meter tunnels.
>>
>>543963898
>Name any other country that has made 12.5 meter tunnels.
It's that literally what london's subway system is specced at? I think I am being trolled.
>>
>>543963789
You have to understand that California libtards concocted a bullshit HSR cover story to graft tens of billions of dollars. It bears no resemblance to actual HSR projects. It would have already been finished if it were. The tragedy is that it would be a great, landmark transportation project with huge benefits. It's also impossible because California is full of retards and assholes now.
>>
>>543963898

A tunnel like that would turn into hell so easily. All it would take is 3+ cars, with the front car breaking down. You can't go forward or turn around. Backing up would rely on everyone behind you backing up as well. Now, imagine the front car was an EV that caught on fire.
>>
>>543963950
yeah I just double checked, the london underground tunnels have diameters just larger than 10ft.
>>
>>543963898
>a scam
The thing about the LV tunnels Musk's company built is that you can enter a building right now, go downstairs, and take a ride to a site a couple miles away fully underground, then emerge through the exits there. In that respect it's not a scam at all because it delivered a working transportation project.
>>
>>543963973
The Tube is remarkably small. The trains are purpose built and very small with low ceilings and take up nearly the entire tunnel space. It's not that different from the Vegas tunnels if they drilled two side-by-side. The difference is building tracks and signalling and all of that, which LV didn't do.
>>
>>543963789

Im not American. Im actually thrilled that musk is grifting you btw. I hope you build his retard tunnels all over you country because you don’t deserve nice things.
>>
>>543963651
Is the LA high speed rail still alive even?
>>
>>543964239
The "LA" to Vegas line was being built by Brightline and their Florida train just went out of business so don't bet on it. It also wasn't going to Los Angeles itself - that was part of a planned phase 2 that would tie into the CSHSR (ie never). It's much easier to build a rail from Vegas to San Bernadino but last mile issues make it a waste of time.

The only way to build high speed rail in California is to sack up and do serious engineering and anger some NIMBY's. That's never going to happen and never was going to happen. The entire project was a Democrat political grift from the start. They wanted to get funded to do a ton of studies, throw some graft to their consulting friends, skim fees for sitting on committees, and probably appropriate some valuable real estate.
>>
>>543964238
>Im not American.
Yeah we can tell. Your specific flavor of obstinate retardation smells like german, maybe belgian. Am I close?

So you like Musk I take it? I really hope your city funds one of his tunnels and they raise your property taxes.
>>
>>543964375
Im happy that you will never have HSR because Americans don’t deserve nice things. My contention is that HSR isn't a scam despite Americans being too stupid to implement it. Trains that move fast do exist and they do transport massive numbers of people. The Las Vegas loop was sold as a mass transit system but anyone that could do basic multiplication would have realized this thing can only move 500 people per hour under ideal conditions.

>>
>>543963726
Spending billions but why?
Oh it turns out the freight operators don't want to move their lines so they have to build huge wtf bridges rather than altering the freight line slightly (which can be done while the lines fucking operate)
Kikes at it again.

Musk and the deep state that is using Musk as their PR instrument are already thinking about building an human colony on Mars. Due to radiation and the lack of a viable atmosphere, it will have to be built by robots completely underground before humans will be allowed to establish there permanently

High speed railway going to middle of nowhere Bakersfield to middle of nowhere merced, where traffic and demand is literally nonexistent.

>but but but we're going to connect San Francisco and Los Angeles...

Do you have any idea how expensive land from Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Francisco counties is? The amount of legal challenges they'll face from expropriating lands?
>>
>>543963366
This "scam" reminds me of Project Azorian, basically the US government made up a whole bunch of bullshit about 'manganese nodules' at the bottom of the ocean, so much so that it ended up in text books that somehow howard hughes was the only person crazy enough to want to mine and the whole thing was a front for recovering a sunk russian sub.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Azorian

Theres no way any other person could just get all the permits and what not required to just get permission and funding to dig a bunch of tunnels with almost no oversight and everyone think its for public transport, the whole concept is absurd and im positive its just a glowie front.

Solar FREAKIN' Roadways
>>
>>543967397
what makes me sad about solar roadways
is that they're such a bad idea that it makes similar good ideas seem bad by proximity.
for example, solar waterways.
>huh?
you can cover waterways like the la river in solar panels to prevent evaporation and get solar power
and no one drives over them to ruin them.
it's a good idea, and it's gets no traction because of how bad solar roadways were...
