Specifically, they grew out of anti-populist and anti-Leninist tendencies AND Western chauvinism against Third World countries implementing Marxist-Leninist governments to gain their sovereignty. They are "Third Camp" Trotskyists. Both Irving Kristol and Michael Harrington were disciples of Trotskyist Max Shachtman and this legacy is carried by the DSA today.The ideology is also the same. Neocons despise ordinary people. Most neocons were former Trotskyists and Trotsky, likewise, HATED the working-class. Likewise, the godfather of Neoconservatism Leo Strauss saw himself and his students/cult followers as philosopher kings. He told them to view the vulgar masses of people as needing to be deceived so that intellectuals could maintain their power. This is largely because neoconservatism is an expression of Jewish supremacy. Jews believe they are the "CHOSEN PEOPLE" and seek to preserve their ethnocentrism and tribalism against the universal brotherhood of man brought into the world by Christ.
