Why do American conservatives think that studying is bad? School is for learning, not slacking off.
>>543979011I made $25 an hour in my college internship and 60k right out the door in 2012. I now make 300k. There’s a lot of useless degrees but the general “don’t go to school!” propaganda is because the powers that be love useful idiots

That's not really the point he's making though. There's a certain kind of person who very diligently does busy work and considers that to be very productive even when it becomes disconnected from actual productivity, and our education system reinforces and rewards that tendency. The sort of girl who spends hours diligently highlighting and color coding her notes and folders even though it doesn't actually accomplish much besides feeling like you're doing something grows up to become a corporate compliance lady inventing and implementing a bunch of rules and reports that are ultimately kind of meaningless busy work, but since the system is now filled with and in large part run by such people there's nobody to actually call this out and the end result is a feedback loop of such people wasting everyone's time with such nonsense while earnestly thinking that they're being very productive, engendering more of it until you get today's kafkaesque situation
>>543979011It’s not talking about studying, it’s about the “work harder, not smarter” mentality that a lot of girls, in particular, are bad about.I employee several women in my office. They are busy all day, but a lot of it is definitely ‘looking busy’ or doing stuff in frustratingly inefficient ways. Like their computer skills are about on par with a 90s boomer dad, they have excel but don’t know any formulas and have to be forced at gunpoint practically to use optimized spreadsheets, and when me or anyone else with computer knowledge shows them ways to make their job 10x faster and easier they seethe endlessly about it. And the ‘looking busy’ thing is definitely not something I’ve taught them, I very openly don’t give a fuck how people are spending their time at work as long as everything is done on time, it just comes naturally to them.
