I've been learning Hebrew over the past month to read the old testament in its original language, and it's astounding the depth of meaning hidden in simple things such as verb tense, subjects, and the specific words they use that gets translated into different English words depending on what the translator felt it meant.

For example, the word "Ratzon" means simultaneously blessing, fulfillment, and was the same word used in "he who finds a woman finds a good thing." The ratzon in that sentense also implies fulfillment of his desires and creative manifestation, meaning the woman is a channel for blessings. Whcih is why I guess social media blows up "women multiply blessings"

I've grown up as a Christian and up until now, I never even thought about reading the original text in Hebrew. If Christians proclaim to love God so much, and to read the bible every day, why do they not learn Hebrew? I had a Christian friend who thought me learning Hebrew was demonic.

The Ethiopian Jewish bible is older than the old testament but jews reject it.

Don't need to. Get a KJV.

Don't you think that the translation is missing a lot of its meaning? It's like how different ministers interpret the bible differently.

Give one or two examples. In my experience, people can't understand Plain English a lot of the time.

It's a disgrace for an American to learn any other language.

Let others learn American to live in the American world.

like for example, KJV's version translates Elohim, Adonai, YWHW, all as "God" or "Lord" but different names of God were used in different places with significance to why each one was used. For example in the burning bush, he used "I AM", other times a more personal, "Adonai" (Lord) is used, and during creation and commands, his name becomes "Elohim" There's apparently way more names of God, but in English there are only "Lord" and "God" and sometimes Savior or Redeemer. I find it fascinating that YWHW is used in the most highest commands and creation.

>YWHW
god of incels sodomites jews

Well what conclusions did you draw from that nuance? Did Moses speak to a reincarnate Jesus Christ, or an angel? Same question for Genesis 18. The Early Christians were basically all united on the same answer until Augustine came along, and he was probably fluent in those languages you suggest.

Actually, if you read that exact sentence, it's saying "people who claim to be jews, but aren't, are evil"

Is Benjamin Netanyahu a "Jew", yes or no? Romans 2:28-29 says no

YWHW has relation with the word "being" in Hebrew, so when YWHW said "I am that I am" to me I interpret it as, "being" or "consciousness" is all there is. So the command "love the lord your god" (YWHW) means to focus on the highest "I AM" state.

When you use the english "God" and merge it all together, you think God is someone else, some rescuer or giver of blessings. But with "being", you recognize it as a metaphysical state instead; that emotions and circumstances are the distraction.

When I thought that God was somewhere up in the sky, doleing out punishment or blessings, I had a victim mindset, waiting, pleading and begging for his help.

When I recognized that "consciousness" is sovereign, I became much more of my own aid. I wish I had grown up learning that God was within us, and this would have helped a lot more with emotional regulation.

Then, there's more signficance to when Jacob wrestled with God, he was actually wrestling with his own mind.

YES I wanted to share, Moses was afraid, and asked why should the Israelites believe him, when he's a nobody. And YWHW answered, tell them "I am that I am" sent you, and it gave me so much hope and courage.

"I am that I am" means "I'll show you the kind of leader I am through my works. You may not believe in me, but the power of God will reveal what kind of leader I am"

That de-mystifies God's response of "I am that I am sent you" But in english, it doesn't make sense. Also, in hebrew there are only 2 tenses, perfect and imperfect. "I am that I am" uses the imperfect, meaning it will be completed. It's such a fascinating language, because there's no "would've" or "should've" it's just "it happened" or "it didn't happen"

The idea that God is "up" is all over the Bible. Of course God sees all, but don't get too close to pantheism. There are generally two views about Jacob wrestling with God: it was an Angel or it was Jesus. I'm not married to either interpretion, but beware about allegorizing too much with "mind". Do you believe it's only an allegory, or that it's a allegory in addition to an actual wrestling match?

He's not a Jew. Good grief. The object of a True Jew's worship is God. If anyone rejects Jesus Christ, they reject the Father. Hammer out these doctrines before exploring languages is what I recommend:

Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: but he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

Sorry, desu I don't follow the news... I don't know what Ben Netanyahu has done, I just assumed he was based on the last name and that he lived in Isreal.

Here's the thing though... has anyone considered Jesus was a cult leader? the old testament was about how to live your life, how to be nice to strangers, how to be merciful, how to be an upright man.

Then jesus came along, and said everyone is cut off from God unless they believe in him. Jesus seems like a really violent fellow if he's saying anyone who doesn't recognize him is the antichrist.

In the old testament, everyone had access to God, everyone had divinity in them.

Then Christ came along, and said no, you're not going to heaven unless you follow me. The new testament is so different from the old that it could be considered fanfiction atp. It seems more about controlling society through fear and "othering", than to let people have freewill and think for themselves.

Look at the Genesis 18 you reference, Abraham who believed in God wanted to save sodom and gomorra even if only 10 righteous people were in it. When strangers came to his tent, he fed them all.

Now, look at what you referenced. Jesus is making an enemy out of anyone who doesn't believe in him. Jesus is saying "those are the others, and they are cut off from God" Did Abraham stop to ask who was a Jew and who was not? No, he only cared that they were righteous. He fed everyone, and saved people equally. Jesus is a very polarizing figure.

Keep in mind, I have been baptized at 8, been in the church most of my life. I am learning this stuff only now, by studying the bible in Hebrew - from a sincere wish to learn more about God, and these are the things I've found.

>don't get too close to pantheism
Yeah because you want to make sure you are a Theist feeding the gay donkey headed sodomite jew entity and not the all encompassing consciousness of nature and life, becoming aware of itself, you wouldn't want that
>>
>>543982388
>has anyone considered Jesus was a cult leader?
Yeah, Kikes consider it all the time because they're children of the devil. Your mind is all kiked up. Jesus Christ is the best friend you'll ever have. Blaspheme Him at your own peril.
>>
Anyway I'm leaving the thread now, I'm sure I've riled up the Christians and I don't want to fight with them. Up until the past month, I never considered Jesus a cult leader. And I can understand why the Jews killed him - if that, and it has nothing to do with the 30 shekles of silver, I'm sure they'd have done it for free.

Even the very verse you have references, "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: but he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also."

Jesus is saying, as long as you believe in him, then you are saved. So it doesn't matter if you are a good person or not, hurt people or not, you just need to believe in him.

Growing up, the church indoctrinated us with thinking the Old Testament is terrible because it was all about consequences and good being rewarded, bad being punished. Then "luckily" Jesus came and everyone gets rewarded no matter what they do.

But this is actually a very evil thing. Now people aren't accountable for their actions; they call on Jesus and say they are saved.

Mercy exists in the old testament too, but you must repent and change your wrongdoing. Now, Christians just believe in Jesus and are excused. Jesus didn't ask people to be nice to one another, he asked that all they had to do was believe in him, who believes in God.

Yes I grew up on 4chan and hated jews for the past 10 years.

But because I always seek to understand instead of hate, I learned more about Jews and Hebrew, and from learning more, I realized the side of Christianity was wrong. That's why you see a lot of Christian hate, not because they're prosecuted victims, but because they do a lot of evil. Christians may be very powerful, but it doesn't mean they're loving or kind. And Jews are "powerful" not by fear or force, but because they've invented things to help mankind and help people, so they were blessed.

if youre serious about doing deep-level research on christianity you need both + the archaic forms of both since a lot of the words changed over the years. since both were the original language of key texts in christianity.

languistic subtleties are a hard problem, even as an ESL who has known english most of my life im sure there's stuff i miss that a native speaker doesnt since they live and breathe the language. an ideal in an academic setting would be a team with a native hebrew and a native greek speaker

question though, and all of this is true you can look it up, why are you doing this when there is no such thing as the original bible?
The bible is written over 1,500 years by forty authors in three different languages, one of which (Aramaic) is dead and buried.
even prior to the councils of Hippo/Carthage finally canonizing the final books, there was no clear cut consensus on what should be in it and what shouldnt be. Stuff like the gospel of thomas and Didache was very popular but was cut because it didnt fit the story they wanted to tell.
Lets also not get into the stuff that modern bibles have with Codex Sinaiticus like the longer ending to Mark or the johannine comma. So again, there really isnt an 'original bible'
>>
>>543980972
modern hebrew has nothing to do with ancient hebrew.
closest you could get to the original is reading the Septuagint LXX in old greek.
>>
>>543980972
>Why don't Christians learn hebrew or greek to read the original bible?
because that is genuine work that will lead anyone to realize that glowniggers made it all up and use it as a program

>>543980972
You do if you're at seminary, along with Latin, if you're a serious scholar.

>the old testament was about how to live your life, how to be nice to strangers, how to be merciful, how to be an upright man.
Do you seriously believe that?
