Why don’t you get a retail job and become an executive after 40 years? There’s no shortcuts in life you have to work hard from the bottom
Most retail jobs don't even offer this level of promotion. Your best method of increasing your pay is actually a lateral move. Switch companies leveraging your existing experience. Which you won't get from working as a cashier.
>>544005148After 5+ years they do if you’re a good worker

>>544004102Good for her. My aunt did this at Macdonalds.
>>544004102Because I'm not a nigger bitch
>>544004102you already posted this
>>544004102the only people who rise like this within retail are the ruthless slave drivers who don't give two shits about anyone but themselves and the companies bottom line
>>544004102>9 different tiers of vice presidentwhat a joke

>33 living with parents>most I ever made was $26/hour in a circuit board factory>got laid off a year ago>went back to community college for math degree >knew it was retarded going in but just wanted a break from wagecuckingIs there any job I can get in 2026 to make $35+ per hour? That's the minimum I'd need to afford a tinyhome or condo so I can actually move out from my parents and have a place to bang my girlfriend besides the backseat of my car. I would live in a trailer home but they all come with a fucking 458 dollar a month HOA fee so it's not a good long-term plan.
>>544006863Get into embedded hardware shit since you have some basic circuit exp and math, use that to learn some of the sensor, IOT, PLC, whatever the fuck uses something you can program or design in that space. You should be able to bullshit your way to something with a Math degree and experience with hardware.
>>544005380Regional Manager/Head office has required specific management and business degrees since the late 2000s. You can't just work up as a no fucking degree high school diploma. The only way to make it up here is to get a degree then start applying for head office as a career move. Mid 2000s were the last time you could basically get anything more than shit tier entry level job in a non trades career without college/uni degrees.
>big promotions every year or every three at the same companyObviously not a normal case. She probably knows the owner or her family does.
>>544007036How do I learn about how to actually do that stuff though? Wouldn't I need an EE degree?
>>544007457>every yearthat's just not true. it took her 10 years to move up from the low level hourly pleb role>>544007132>You can't just work up as a no fucking degree high school diploma.well go to college after work. i know tons of people who do this for a few years and get promoted or a raise once they complete the degree
>>544004102you just know at every opportunity she was the only available, near competent, black body they could promote, so they did.
>>544005876So prime executive material?

>>544004102I don’t have nigger women privilege so will just be kept at bottom of totem pole regardless of job performance
>>544007842Look at the picture. Repeated promotions every 1-3 years. I'm not sure what you're not seeing because it's right in front of you.
>>544009070>Repeated promotions every 1-3 yearsgoing from VP to VP is not a promotion. and look how long she was in the first two jobs at before going corporate
Meanwhile a lot of CEOs just worked at McKinsey for several years then moved to a company for a senior position and became CEO after a few years. Never even worked 1 day on the lower floors.
>>544004102
>>544009625different companies have different hiring philosophies. sometimes they like to promote only within something they do outside hires.
>>544005819have you seen all the reposting going on right now? same copypasted brown threads everyday about trump
>>544009366sales associate to store manager in 6 years? lol where does that happen?
>>544004102This would be possible if the current decision makers were not 1,000,000 times as irresponsible as prior generations and did not sell out to every vice that crossed their desk
>>544010835working hard in retail pays off because there is a high turnover rate
>>544007132It's even worse now. If you get off the management track at any point you're no longer competitive. Even if you have degrees and experience, you're put on a treadmill and if you fall off you aren't getting back on, because there's someone else who is younger or cheaper with the equivalent level of experience. It's a stupid game, best move is to not play at all.>t. did management for 7 years, went to Japan to study Japanese and take a break (was having health issues from stress) and nobody wanted to hire me anymore after that.
>>544011063Yes, but getting recognized for your work requires that you have a decent manager and are at least a somewhat shamless self promoter.

>>544011247Are you retarded? Where did I say I was mad? I wrote no such thing. I'm happy for her success I'm just making a comment, largely drawn from personal experience, about the reality of low level retail positions.
>>544004102>Atlanta, GAThis shouldn’t even be a thread
>>544004102Show me the 100,000 other home depot employees dying at the assistant plumbing goods stock manager tier
>>544011247I worked in retail and have seen people do this. They put in a lot of hours. A deli worker applies for assistant deli manager when there is opening, get the job and then applies for deli manager or another managerial opening, gets the job, then applies for assistant store manager, gets the job and works 70 hours a week, and then becomes manager of another store and then if they do a good job they become a district manager and so on. You have to work a lot of hours though to do this and do a good job. It's not for everyone.
>>544010835I've seen it happen at grocery stores and you're absolutely right to ask "where?" because that is what made the difference. I'll spare you the full story, but after switching companies and, more importantly, cities a friend of mine went from clerk to store manager in a few years. He had to do good work and be willing to move to where they needed him, but if we had just stayed in our hometown he'd still be stocking shelves.
>>544011593because most retail workers are low IQ and lazy unironically. you don't even need that much drive to succeed in any job if you just do your job right all the time and don't slack off
>>544007132Thats not true in America. The CEO of costco started as a fork lift driver and has never been to college. What you tend to notice though is a lot of these executives got in when the companies were relatively young which is what facilated such movement. New people do get brought on but they basically need to be golden boys or hand picked from the current executives.
>>544011758>New people do get brought on but they basically need to be golden boys or hand picked from the current executives.lazybones cope
>>544011655This. Retail is rife with idiots, drug addicts, ex cons, lazy teenagers, etc. It's not especially hard to become a standout employee. My argument is that the kind of aforementioned poor employees also exist in lower management positions and will often exploit anyone remotely competent because it's easier and less of an annoyance than getting a lazy subordinate to do anything.
>>544005148I went from seasonal hire during Christmas to Store Manager. It was 5 promotions, roughly 8 years. I quit after becoming SM. Just wasn't for me anymore, but you absolutely can be promoted pretty far in retail if you're reliable and hardworking.
>>544006863Yeah you're a failure broSmart kids from India are going to make you unemployed
>>544004102I see no problem with this, this is how America should deliver.
>>544012643How do I not be a failure then? There are a lot of jeets in my classes and I can just feel that their younger brains will outperform mine.

>>544012782Indians especially are talented at maths and scienceThat's why every second engineer is Indian Hindu nowHmm... I'm not sure, I don't see white people coming back and competing in this new tech era
>>544004102I'm pretty certain everybody posting here is far too important to get some sort of job where they need to actually work.
>>544004102What a boring job! No amount of money can make up for the lack of meaning.
"Women in the Workplace" and Diversity Initiatives are used as public relations shields. Corporate boards celebrate identity milestones to create a facade of social advancement while keeping the underlying wealth extraction engine exactly the same
>>544004102funny how no jewish person seems to require this "long climb" to get top positions
>>544012989The "Glass Cliff" is a calculated risk-management lever. When a hyper-aggressive, 90-day profit cycle inevitably burns out a company's workforce and triggers an operational crash, the board hands the toxic asset to a female or minority leader to absorb the public failure, act as a temporary cleanup crew, and protect the financial elite from career falloutCorporate Progressivism ("Woke Capitalism") is a Wall Street marketing gimmick. The moment the financial system ran out of ideas for real, long-term physical innovation, it began commodifying social values to manufacture corporate relevance on the cheap. The instant these initiatives become a legal liability or stop generating immediate profit premiums, boards immediately roll them back. The Green Energy Transition is heavily weaponized as a zero-sum asset-shuffling machine. Wall Street asset managers bundle subsidized projects to simulate massive industrial growth on paper, while outsourcing the low-margin, resource-heavy work of physical production to centralized economies like China. They substitute the hard work of expanding human utility for the easy extraction of government subsidies. The Corporate Ouroboros is the ultimate engine for the death of innovation. By legally and financially hardwiring every public institution to chase the next 90-day ticker sprint via stock buybacks and margin squeezing, the system systematically consumes its own future to manipulate the present.
I’m ok with this, she worked hard and stuck it out, but let’s be honest, her being a black and a woman helped her.
