Pic related is from the NBER which is the research arm of the Federal Reserve. Their papers and analysis are used by banks globally to set rates and determine the flows of hundreds of Trillions of $ worth of investments. This particular study was to analyze innovation by demographic. The researchers analyzed patents released between the early 1990s to mid 2010s and tried to find which group was producing the most amount of "innovation" and the pie chart you see in pic related was the result. 96% of ALL innovation came out of Japanese Americans and Whites, blacks accounted for just 1% of innovation, Hispanic 2.5%, and ALL the other demographics measured resulted in such a low score that they accounted for just 0.5% of innovation. Most notably the final 0.5% group included both South Asians and Jews.
