So when the Soviets came to the table, they offered to split Poland between the two, with the secret idea that this would finally give them access to the Soviet border. Poland became the projection point for their invasion to Russia. So they could not tolerate any sabotage or disruption from Poland. That's why they were particularly brutal. Although to be fair the borders of the occupied Polish territory was likely going to be a rump state they left Poland with. So they did give the Polish something.
