Praise the AI, we are finally going be able to drag the parasites of academia back into the real world and force them to have real human interactions.For the past 100 years, university professors, physicists, mathematicians and computer scientists thought they could live in total isolation from society, leeching off taxpayer's money while producing nothing. For those who don't know, researchers spend half their time at "conferences", chatting with each other and campaigning for left-wing parties if the have spare time after their teaching duties.For 50 years, they've been laughing at blue-collar workers losing their jobs. Now AI is coming for their jobs and they can't stop seething. While the blue collar family is happy to use ChatGPT to have his favorite cake recipe, the lefty mathematician is fuming (and will probably troon off). This is hilarious. Hopefully this will finally make them realize that their precious university isn't some isolated little bubble detached from the rest of society.

Indeed many white collar jobs are going to be absorbed by AI but don’t think for one moment the blue collar guys are safe forever. As soon as robotics catches up with AI, the blue collar guys will go as well. Rest assured it will probably be 20-30 years (hopefully). They’re actively developing new robots to do custom welding and the like. Once welding and other skilled trades are taken over by AI, everyone else will be as well by that point, but it pisses me off regardless. I don’t think it’s right to cheer as people lose their jobs to AI because in the end it will be us all. I’m sure you heard of “rat utopia”, where rats were given everything they needed to survive with no predators? Their civilization collapsed and they raped/murdered each other. What do you think humanity will become when no one has anything to work toward anymore? How will people find their self worth? It’s a real question. It’s going to be rat utopia and the world will fall into the deepest trenches of depravity since Babylon. We already see signs of this, where men and women, mostly men, are quietly checking out of society, just as some of the rats did in the experiment. They sequestered themselves away from the insanity of the masses until they died of natural causes. UBI is coming.

I wouldn't necessarily make it hard to get in, but I would make it more difficult to stay in; a lot of people just aren't cut out for doing well in college, especially if there were a serious push to make it more rigorous, but the current system where you show up for one year, fail out, and are now stuck with tens of thousands of dollars in debt and nothing to show for it is fucked.
