I think this research is kind of dumb. The researcher never fixes the the causation vs correlation issue. There is an equally valid interpretation that star bucks open in wealthier neighborhoods where people have more money to spend on expensive coffee. Those that make more money are probably more productive people. I mean how much could one correlate patent rate and salary? I don't even think a hood could sustain a Starbucks with their prices.
