I'm only mildly interested in the subject. I long ago completely dismissed it as the fever dreams of fabulists. But there's so many account and so much lore behind it, I've at least tried to gain some sort of cursory understanding. As above/so below. In my experience, ugly things are evil. True, beauty can be deceptive. But that's only once beauty is corrupted. There's only a transitory phase wherein beauty retains its essence while practicing evil. Like that little girl singer...what's her name? Grande? Ariel grande or something like that? She was a decently cute girl -- raised a Christian and whatnot. Then she turns to witchcraft and whoredom. Shortly thereafter, she is horrifying and frightening to look at. Shockingly so. Like the stuff of nightmares. But there was this brief interval wherein she retained her cuteness while committed to evil. So yes, on the main, beauty/cuteness/comliness is the Hallmark of team good-guy and ugly/garish/witchy is the face of evil.
