https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/world-has-nearly-burned-through-its-oil-stockpile-buffer-executives-say-2026-10-06/

The first president to hard push the market to make the switch to renewable energies, not only that but to force the hand of every single other country by making them burn all of their oil reserves is a masterstroke worthy of Lelouch or Yoshikage Kira.

I've been thinking the same. We've been told for three decades to reduce consumption and live in walkable communities instead.
I walk to work. I dont even know how much gas is lol.
>>
economy needs to crash and scale down significantly because factories work on oil,gas and coal.
Basically world is not ready for "renewables", not in our lifetime.
Humanity's best hope is nuclear energy and not solar or wind.
>>
>>544178376
Lucky you. My office is 29 miles away.
I could probably work from home, but I'd probably get distracted.
>>
>>544178434
Solar scales well and is somewhat easy to deploy. Wind is awful, doesn't scale well, harms the environment. Nuclear, use it if you have it, but it takes time to roll out enough of it.
>>
>>544178459
Work from home 90% of the time, to save the environment obviously
>>
>>544178622
You need oil to make solar. 100% dependent on it.

Faster culling the population. Less expensive. Easier to clean. That how you save energy and have fuel for the future. Reduce the user base significantly
>>
>>544181535
You need oil to operate the entirety of modern society
>>
>>544178299
There is no other energy that will cover for oil. We have been doing the alternative energy shit for years for this very reason. (It was never about the environment, it was about creating less dependence creating more leverage from the only leverage point the middle east has)

Anyhow the tech isn't there, its not coming at least anytime soon, and especially under stressed conditions.

All you are going to see his the door opening for more un standard practices that are environmentally more dangerous and are all just band aids until the spicket gets turned back on or the people who can't afford it are just chocked out of the market.
>>
>>544178376
Yeah, same.

>drive or take the bus
30 mins, there's probably a nigger or boomer on the bus talking or blasting their music in your ears.

>just fucking walk
30 mins, and you feel pretty good, more alert, more focused.
>>
Drive an EV don't care
>B-bit everything else will get more expensive
It was doing that anyway. Get fucked Chuds. You voted for it.
>>
>>544178299
I got an idea... and I know it's a fucking wild one... why don't we build refineries in Texas capable of refining the oil we produce in the US?
>>
The only idea to work off green energy is if we stop using so much energy.
This means no free food for browns overseas, no heating your house to above 50 degrees or cooling it below 80. No working more than 16 hours a week, as any more increases consumption. No cars, we pedal around with amish scooters as they require less maintenance than bikes and can work on worse roads.

I would be fine with all of this but it would kill 99% of boomers and thirdies, I'd just wear a coat or drink cool water.

>Wind is awful, doesn't scale well, harms the environment
Wind power scales cubically with wind speed, so it's downright useless in most areas. In some areas the wind speed average is so high there's no point in using any other power.
This is the same with most environmental sources of power but not to the extreme of wind, you have to actually be in a good environment for them to work at all really.

Anything within walking distance of any kind of employment here is 7 figures. I commute 45 minutes each way and many of my co-workers are an hour or more.
Kinda weird that the bigheads in central planning don't see how much of a fuckup having 20% of people's productivity lost to transit is but hey I didn't go to fucking university did I.
>>
>>544178299
coal was better.
>>
>>544182241
Yeah and the price of an oil barrel increased by 20% in the past six months. 80% if you go back eight months. This is clearly having an effect on the market.
>>
>>544178299
I don't think it is as much of a panic as people make it out to be, or at least for the nordic nations. We're of course affected, but we are also in a good position in terms of renewable energy and EV are getting more popular by the year.
>>
>>544181925
Or… maybe we can all just work from home.
>>
>>544181925
Or we could make AI illegal and dismantle every datacenter, redistribute the ram, storage and videocards, save the electricity and fresh drinking water. Trade off no more stupid cat dancing video.
>>

I'm at the coast, we have wind power left and right. Not only is it ugly, it disturbs wind patterns. We have more rain here now and thus less rain deeper into the land, where we have more droughts now. We also have offshore wind farms that disturb the fragile maritime ecosystem. But there's a huge wind power mafia that's politically well connected and they got priority rights to build their bird/fish killers.
tl;dr I hate wind power because it's evil.

Driving on the I10 from metro Phoenix AZ to southern CA you will pass near one of the most powerful nuclear generating stations in the USA and the world. With just 3 reactors it generates an average of 30,000 giga watt hours of annual clean electricity, enough to power roughly 2.5 to 3 million *American homes* annually. Or roughly enough power for 5.5 to 8 million people, for the last 40 years straight with 85-95% uptime. This one station alone makes Arizona one of the top energy exporting US states. Southern California, Western Texas, New Mexico, Southern Nevada, and Maricopa/Pinal/Pima counties in Arizona itself are powered by this one generating station in part.

To put this into retard perspective, this one nuclear power station in Arizona with 3 reactors has generated enough electricity over its lifetime equivalent to 9 BILLION barrels of oil converted to generator usable pump gasoline (even more barrels if considering diesel). Billion with a B.

And keep in mind that pressurized water nuclear reactors only utilize 2-5% of the total energy in Uranium/Thorium fuels. While a specialized Thorium breeder nuclear reactor can utilize 90-99% of the energy in the fuel, literally almost unity energy (0.99/1.0 output/input energy). And there is enough Thorium and Uranium extractable in sea water and the crust to power mankind at its current energy usage for roughly 60 million years using these specialized breeder reactors. And some idiots think there is an energy problem, there is only a retard and greed problem.
>>
>>544185207
Also for the retards. The Japanese have developed a technique to extract Uranium from sea water ambiently, even in low budget low tech conditions the researchers were able to extract around 1 kg of Uranium within 36 months from the sea water ambiently.

Next consider that Thorium is roughly 3 times more available than Uranium on Earth. And the Earth's Moon has an equal amount of extractable surface deposits of Thorium. Even considering you use these specialized breeder reactors to power ALL of mankind's electricity needs currently and with expanding production needs in the future with theoretically 10 billion humans living at upper middle class American lifestyle and quality of life. Next also consider that it is actually possible right now to convert actinide wastes into reusable substances and fuels.

There is enough economically extractable Thorium and Uranium on Earth alone to power ALL of mankind for more than 100,000 years continuously, CONSERVATIVELY.
>>
>>544185471
To add yet some more perspective to this for the retards. It would take only about 1,100 Palo Verde nuclear generating stations equivalent average energy output to power ALL of mankind. There are presently around 450 nuclear stations around the world at this moment and almost all of them are tiny, extremely outdated, unbelievably inefficient (literally 2-5% max efficiency in fuel energy extraction), and have varying standards (American nuclear plants are built to last 40-70 years, US Navy nuclear reactors 40-50 years with very only one refueling in this period MAX). This is not some science fiction BS, this is actually attainable worldwide with mankind's present technological capabilities and understanding (especially western nuclear experts, USA in particular). It would take at most half a human lifetime to build and maintain and supply fuel to enough Thorium/Uranium cycle breeder reactors and generating stations to power all of mankind if all major and technologically advanced countries worked together cooperatively and economically on it.

Also as I mentioned, there is NO NEED to store "waste", you have only extracted 2-5% of the energy in the fuel by the time you put it in barrels and bury it or whatever BS. Breeder reactors extend fuel lifespan MASSIVELY (to 90-99% efficiency), then seperate advanced processing facilities and reactors can process actinide and transuranic wastes into useable substances and tertiary power cores and even ADDITIONAL NUCLEAR FUEL.

We live in literal fucking RETARD and GREEDY STUPID FUCKs world.
