never unified, that's actually the current process they're trying to do. white was a New World thing the Spanish and English did in their respective areas. It unified European peoples together, catholic ones in the Spanish and protestants in the English. Now they've even removed the religious barrier. Even the EU is doing it that and eroding European ethnic identities.
