My oven can be set to any temperature above zero degrees F. I tried it one time, put a steel bowl of water in there and sure enough it froze it up. Then I tried the convect setting at zero degrees - it froze it in seconds. Now I use the oven as a freeze dryer too.

There is the Christian.

There is the non-Christian (all non-Christians are anti-Christians).

The non-Christian is: selfish, dishonest, lazy, cruel, impatient, greedy, jealous, pessimistic, cowardly, rude, ignorant, arrogant, irresponsible, manipulative, prejudiced, stubborn, aggressive, untrustworthy, inconsiderate, ungrateful, hypocritical, reckless, controlling, resentful, hostile, dishonorable, disloyal, callous, narrow-minded, deceitful, vengeful, insecure, apathetic, unreliable, entitled, intolerant, bitter, egotistical, impulsive, cynical, disrespectful, unmotivated, materialistic, uncooperative, secretive, foolish, neglectful, condescending, unprincipled, and destructive.

The non-Christian is the old, obsolete human model, fated to be permanently wiped out.

The Christian is: selfless, honest, hardworking, friendly, patient, generous, secure, optimistic, courageous, respectful, knowledgeable, responsible, sincere, impartial, adaptable, peaceful, trustworthy, considerate, grateful, authentic, cautious, empowering, forgiving, friendly, honorable, loyal, compassionate, understanding, truthful, merciful, confident, passionate, dependable, appreciative, tolerant, content, modest, deliberate, hopeful, courteous, driven, unpretentious, cooperative, transparent, wise, attentive, encouraging, moral, and constructive.

The Christian is the New Human, fated to enjoy the Kingdom of Heaven for eternity.

The non-Christian is everything that's wrong & wicked with the world.

The Christian is everything that's right & good with the world.

For now the wheat & weeds grow together until it is time for the harvest at the end of the age. The harvesters are instructed to first collect the weeds, tie them in bundles to be burned, and then gather the wheat into the barn. This is the fate of the world.

Why would you even have reversible heat pumps on refrigerators? That would cost too much in extra components.
Or they activated the defrosting heating elements instead.
And in that case, we are playing the game of telephone, and the person relaying the story doesnt know what the fuck he is talking about.

Lmao, I used to work at a SuperMarket, and the price checkers were running an embedded windows version, every morning at 5am they'ed reboot and use a telnet connection to pull prices from a centralized DB, probably an AS400 mainframe from head office, critical infrastructure is absolutely riddled with shit like this.

Generally speaking the HVAC systems are maintained by an MSP which is perpetually short staffed and juggling like 2k clients, they all use Citrix portals to RA into the systems if need be to adjust temperature en mass during season changes and such.

I was actually personally responsible for logging the freezer temperatures and reporting any anomalies, but they didn't like me because I actually did my fuckin job and would report the *actual* temperatures (which were sometimes well below a minimum acceptable threshold) and the service guy would come on with the phattest grin, pretty sure that dood was making mad stacks on overtime, he was in there constatantly

Anyways, there is a non-0 chance kimmy may have "cooked the wrong fucks" here, KEK. She knows what she's doin, I trust her judgement - though in all fairness, nobody could have stopped her even if they wanted to

I just don't get how they "hacked" offline devices like fridges in the whole country like that. And why are fridge able to produce heat? there is literally no heated storage anywhere there, even the freshly backed good end up on an ambiant temp display.
>>
>>544222160
Stage one is the blankets, you gotta roll out the massive insulation blankets over top of the bunkers to preserve temp
If power is not restored within 4 hours, then the blankets come off and you have to move all the product into the walk-in freezers
Only there is not enough cubic volume of storage in the massive walk-ins, (I used to work in there in a t-shirt, hauling around max weight skids, in -26c blast freezer in order to prevent sweating) Multiple times out of desperately I had managed to save the company hundreds of thousands of dollars by somehow cramming the product into there, even the receiver guy couldn't figure out how to unpack it, and I had to explain he needs to do it with a hand truck, but he wasn't buff enough to muscle that shit around. The Store manager was tickled pink over it, but I quit after they hired some Indian manager and he reduced my hours to 10 a week

Supermarkets were using a 3rd party supplier to pilot the fridges for some reason. Older controller were weak against an attack and needed to be replaced (because the manufacturer wasn't pushing software updates anymore).

I need to look into what exactly that 3rd party supplier was doing connecting to fridges...

They have to report due diligence to maintain Insurance status, their premiums will skyrocket if they are not reporting daily logs - the insurance companies are looking for every possible way to fuck them over, the chain is looking for every possible way to keep their premiums low

Somewhere in the middle of these two diametrically opposed constraints, a phase-change occurs and a region of criticality is induced where open recursive closure propagates which is described as "nominal operation" to the observer, but hey - I was just a minimum wage freezer bitch, what the fuck do I know about anything?

Smart fridge is a little too reductive. The main idea behind the fridges being connected to the internet was having alerts in case something went wrong as well as some fancy remote control options for maintenance and diagnostic.

The funny part is, workers got the alert about excessive temperature around 2am but didn't know what to do about it...
>>
>>544220610
Look at how many refrigerator/freezer units each supermarket has, and how many supermarkets there are in each chain of stores. And you need to be able to verify the temperatures of all of these units to comply with food safety laws and avoid liability if someone says they got food poisoning from spoiled food.

No doubt, some supermarket executive figured out that they could save millions of dollars by firing the employees that used to handle those tasks, and centralizing control of all the fridges in a single computer system.

It's literally strictly for insurance purposes, if the SuperMarkets had their way, the freezers would be running on full hamster power 24/7. The SuperMarkets won't buy the freezer systems unless they can be remotely managed to save $$$, and insurance wont sell premiums unless the SuperMarkets can guarantee that their system will report temps daily, leading to the system we have in place.

So here is how a refrigerator works.

Intake air
pressurize it (temperature goes up as pressure increases)
then run it through a long metal pipe, so the temperature bleeds off into the regular air outside
Then depressurize and expel the air again (temperature drops)
Because the pressurized air fell back to room temperature, when it's depressurized, it now falls to way below room temperature and comes out cold.

I think there's also a technique you can do that's similar using neon or freon. Instead of sucking in air and expelling it, you get a permanent loop. Pressurization, bleeding off temperature, then depressurization and becoming cold. Then you run air over the cold part and blow it into the refrigerator to cool it down (something like that, I'm spitballing this one a bit).

I don't think it's something you can just "run in reverse". Feels like a fake story. Because a refrigerator would work just the same if you reversed the airflow. The actual heat coming off it comes off the long line of pipes in the back.

>It's literally strictly for insurance purposes,
Not only, there is something called "effacement" in France, it could be translated as ghosting. It's a separate contract with the energy supply company.

The way it works is, when the grid is under huge stress, you agree to consume less than normal and you get paid a lot for it.

It's something working well with cold as cold has inertia, you can run your fridges half of the time for a few hours and get paid a bunch. This requires piloting them very precisely.

I don't know if supermarket do this but I know a lot of company needing cold in their process do it as it is very profitable.
>>
>>544217760
>Or they activated the defrosting heating elements instead.
The defrost function is the same as a reversible heat pump. It is also in icemakers to release the ice from the coils.

Literally the same. All you have to do is have it run in that defrost mode forever.

electric heaters are very cheap and efficient
you dont need to fuck with any advanced thermodynamics of any kind these are usually much less efficient.

it just makes sense to put some heaters into industrial grade devises for ease of operation, some defrosting mode as mentioned. the one thing that instantly works "both ways" is the insulation. you can use a thermos for hot and cold

There's probably ways to make money out of it.
Competitors benefit obviously, suppliers get to sell more supply.
Some of those companies, either the victim or the companies who'll profit from recovery, are publicly traded and can be shorted/optioned.

Russian intelligence moonlight as cybercriminals in the west because Putin's fine with it for a cut and they're safe from prosecution or extradition.

>>
>>544225004
>While it is technically possible to have a heat pump run in both directions,
It can run both directions, but the heat bleed off is usually from the long pipe running at the back of the refrigerator. I don't know how you're supposed to "reverse" that. It's not a reversible process.

There is a defroster to prevent ice from building up at the outlet tube. So maybe they just turned on the defroster really high and that made the refrigerator a "heater". But whatever retard wrote the article is too stupid to know how a refrigerator works and that's it's not reversible

The stores would use a centralized refrigeration system that is connected to the network for monitoring purposes. It's pretty common. That way you can replace a an expensive refrigeration engineer with some low caste street shitter in India.
>>
>>544227608
Yes, when the door is opened, warm, moist air enters the freezer, when is then rapidly cooled. The air mass physically shrinks in volume, which "squeezes" the moisture out of the air, which would then freeze and condense as ice formation, if there was a small leak in the seal, this would happen continuously and ice mass would build up, i'd report it and the freezer tech would have to come in and do his thing to fix it

>>544227705
>But it should hit equilibrium long before it is hot enough to start a fire
The compressor pumps were probably poorly engineered and never designed to operate in conditions where heat evacuation is impossible, thus the compressor pumps do not have a thermal safety shut off and could continue to operate until catastrophic failure. It's important to note that these stores are staffed 24/7, there is never a period in which humans are not wondering around so the fact that this could even happen showcases a profound failure to adhere to standard operational protocols

Not quite, the vector here is something called TUTM or "tuddum" as it's called, it means Top Up to Max - and it's an automated system which orders and delivers product to the store with no human interaction, it reads sales for the day, and tried to keep the inventory stocked to whatever the algorithm determines is most optimal.

A coordinated attacker could leverage this system to force mass deliveries of perishable goods to thousands of locations which have no capacity to effectively store the product, leading to an entire central warehouse collapse and the spoilage of millions of dollars worth of product. I think a store manager can come along and override it if need be, but they would have no idea of knowing until there's 3 tractor trailers waiting to offload food to nowhere. Were this to happen at thousands of locations simultaneously, an attacker could collapse the entire food delivery network overnight.

Realistically speaking, if they were serious about it, they would just attack shipping companies like MAERSK, which literally already happened due to EternalBlue, and a global shipping catasrophe was averted by a single massive network admin chad who started furiously ripping wires out of the back of his server cluster to prevent the spread EternlBlue. Dude literally sprinted down a hallway and started ripping cables out. He was able to recover the other ~30 critical node clusters by reconstructing a RAID array which contained the routing infrastructure required to spool it all back up again

I just remembered when. I got my cert the guy teaching the course used to work as a consultant and he had an anecdote about when he was sent to Europe to do an audit they tried buying a passing grade with hookers and a wad of cash. EU is apparently rife with corruption.

When I managed the frozen food department at a large grocery store, several times a year the refrigeration lines would freeze up. To fix this, I'd have to empty the freezer cases, put all that product into the walk-in freezer in the back room, and then use the hot water hose from the meat department to spray the refrigeration lines until they frozen blockage melted and the system started operating correctly again. It was a lot of work and could only be done when the store was closed for the night. If no one noticed that the lines were frozen up quickly enough, everything in the freezer case would have to be thrown in the trash. Having a system that could automatically detect frozen lines and pump in above freezing liquid through them to clear the blockage would have been great.

Damn, most people I have to interact with are creative sociopaths who would rather spend massive government funds trying to manufacture and execute a character assassination in order to frame whichever unlucky fuck they happened to set their sights on

These people are absolutely deranged maniacs, and should be relieved of duty immediately and sued into oblivion. They are not sending their best, and that is nobody else's fuckin problem but their own, not matter how personally invested they are into placating their incessant compulsive behaviour.

I would say they should feel ashamed of themselves, but I genuinely believe these individuals do not possess the requisite machinery required to conceptualize concepts such as guilt or empathy

Totally untrue. Any appliance store will still sell basic fridges with no touch screen and no "smart" features. The best part is that they're cheaper than the "smart" shit, too.

My guess is it's easier to make. When it's all "dumb" electronics you have to design new cards for every new model, stock a ton of spare parts because there's a ten year warranty, have a crew of technicians who know how this all works and all.

If you make everything a Raspberry zero and a 11" touchscreen it's all a bit more expensive the first time but you save a lot in maintenance, you can replace everything with whatever is in stock 8 years later instead of having to cannibalize washing machines for compatible hardware because the manufacturer went bankrupt, even if it's a different Pi or screen as long as it works the customer won't complain, your technician can be whoever you want because his job is to type "pip install some bullshit -y" rather than fuck with the wiring, etc.

I've worked in places where we'd regularly switch from FPGAs that worked perfectly to fuckass PCs that were objectively worse because the supplier stopped supplying or the guy in charge of the VHDL was about to retire.

Normally these things run on the cheapest of components. Just a shitty timer. If that stops working, you get the result you witnessed.

Which is exactly why, the article sounds like complete bullshit. What, the cheapest, crappiest refrigerators are wifi connected and programmable? fuck off.
What is this, watchdogs?

French supermarket refrigerators are only the start of these type of attacks:

Out there are massive numbers of ancient PLCs sitting on compromised corporate networks in utility companies. Instead of being on an air gapped OT network.

Ticking timebomb particularly if its places like sewage treatment, water treatment, electrical switching and oil refining.

Colonial Pipeline hack in the USA was the start of the fun there.

Get your OT shit off the office LAN Anons
