I find this a bit iffy. Other stories have him flying to Africa and then on to South America (a much shorter trip) and some even say he was allowed to evacuate through the USA. But it's certain he arrived in South America and either lived there or eventually left for what Bormann called the "Invincible Shangri-La beyond the poles" which of course is Antarctica.He lived though.
