Plus those small FPV drones are launched from houses or forests only a few km from the target, so putting them on the border isn't enough, you need to attach them to every squad.And if you want to actually spot drones you also need to put a radar on them, because visually aiming the cannon lowers the effective range to a few hundred meters. They already exist: Gepard, Shilka, Pantsir, etc. They aren't cheap. And they are nice big targets for drones outflanking them from multiple directions. Plus to counter artillery spam you don't have nice big groups with armor attached to them. Both sides are sending small squads of like 2-4 people so a hundred people aren't all bombed in one go.

A lot of Ukrainian drones used a piezoelectric sensor to detect contact because it filters out noise and vibration. So when you see Russians shooting one that blows up that might be what is happening. It might just be bird shot hitting and not even doing that much damage but it sounds like a hit to the sensor. Russians went with a low tech option of two metal wires that have to touch on contact.
