Why wait until nearly everybody was blown up to do it? It was shown that troops could be transported ship to ship even in hyperspace, which was never explained (nor possible before) so... why? It seemed powerful and brave, but it was a terrible decision.
I mean since it was shown, by the by, that transport between ships at even plaid speed was possible, why not put a warp core and a bunch of trilithium crystals on a droid-manned ship and use that to blow up the baddie?
