Australia isn't a country.Hot take, but due to the mixed colonial history, indigenous moot states, defacto independence and collapse of British imperial power Australia actually failed to become any kind of state at all. Australia is a failed state. We could have chosen a monarch when we federated to replace the British royal family, and had a notional royal family like many Scandinavian counties do. This would have made Australia a constitutional monarchy, which if your monarch is just some random guy works just fine.Australia could have become a republic, a civil state, renouncing the British monarch and creating the civil offices of a civic state. Either bicameral or senatorial. But we didn't do that either so the majority of dejure authority ended up in the hands of defunct imperial officers and colonial commercial agents. And Australia could have become a free state like the US was after the war of independence with limited civil authority, laise faire administrative division and levied militia. Such revolutionary states don't typically last long in that form but they ARE states. Australia actually totally fucked up, with the British simply giving up governing and nobody on the continent having the authority to rule, the military power to conquer or the public support to create a Republic. Hence Australia isn't a country.We have no soverign authority but are subject to soverign interference, like a colony we just get pushed around by foreign soverign administrations.We have no bill of rights, civic citizenship or civil administrative positions, all our governing authorities are dejure, this is why it seems like Australia has 20 different legal courts (we literally do) and no actual citizens or agreement as to who is, isn't, can or can't be a citizen. You can't be a citizen of a state which doesn't exist. And it's also why Australians have no land rights, claim rights, pasture rights, fisheries or mining rights, no settlers rights.
