Canadian math education, for example, was #1 in the world in the 90s (in some PISA rankings just behind Hong Kong) and now we've been overtaken by all of Asia and most of western europe. When I first lived in UK I despised Brits and assumed Canadians were superior in every measure. That's no longer the case. I don't think the rest of the world got better, Canada just got worse, on every metric imaginable. I can't think of a single significant Canadian contribution to the world over the last 10-15 years.
