Could 1939 Germany reverse-engineer modern jets?
>>
Considering the Heinkel He 178 first flight was in August 1939, probably.
>>
>>544343505
It's worth sending one back, if that's what you're asking, OP.
>>
>>544343505
Germany literally invented fighter jets.
They used jets in WW2.
>>
>>544343768
Yeah after 60 years of developt in tech, i mean 39' germans getting their hands on a moderna jet and reverse engenering it in least than 4 years.
>>
>>544343505
this is funny since russia didnt get invented until the 1970's
>>
They might struggle to machine some of the parts with enough precision but they would understand what they’re looking at.
>>
>>544343505
I love how in the 2010scWehrabooism used to be extremely rampant on online discussions about WW2 Germany but now the pendulum has swung so far to the opposite direction that you have people claiming that Germany defeated France by pure random luck and comics like this
>>
>>544343505
rent free
>>
>>544343931
Yeah but flight computer tho?
>>
>>544343505
>Could 1939 Germany reverse-engineer modern jets?
we reverse engineered literal Alien tech and upgraded even that to control with our Aryan GEIST
>>
>>544343505
>>544343808
They would take it apart, and for the aerospace components, they'd just go "Huh, that's possible, neat" and be completely fucked trying to replicate them because
>computers
They'd have no capacity to reverse-engineer semiconductors, and therefore cannot reliably reproduce anything manufactured by heavily computerized robots
>>
>>544344065
is it essential tho
>>
>>544344021
They could tell that electrical signals are going in and out of parts, and even measure the sensor and control surface signals if said signals are slow enough for 1930s oscilloscopes. They would have no capacity to reverse engineer chips though.
>>
>>544343505
Would probably go exactly like the comic. There exists no way for they to come close to understanding the technology in it let alone how to replicate it until at least the 1960's or 1970's assuming the state gives a blank checkbook to get it done. When they do eventually reverse engineer it years down the line they would be able to leap from the atomic age straight into the information age era of technological development. Until then, its a UFO parked rent free in an underground bunker taking up space.
>>
>>544344125
idk enough about industrial engineering to say whether CNC-machined parts could be made without computers, let alone with the required precision.

I'm also not sure what chemical and material advances they'd be able to replicate.
>>
>>544343505
They would have problems with manufacturing some special parts but they would comprehend the concepts of hypersonic flight very fast and it would literally propell their development of own jets. It's possible that they would have had capable jet fighters much earlier. Anyway, Germany's great problem was resources, not ideas.
>>
>>544343505
I can only imagine the caliber of inbred third worlder that made this

I read it jeets lmaoo

>>544344203
>>544344145
yeah my guess is it would provide insights for refinement mostly, i dunno if fc is essential for fighters like it is in 117 so maybe they just strap rockets to w/e improved jet comes out

There’s also a bunch of metallurgy and alloys and shit. Titanium features prominently in a lot of modern jet engines and nobody knew how to machine it back then
>>
>>544344330
Modern fighters are unstable and need a computer to maintain controllable flight, but they could probably make an upgraded >>544344271 with the non-computerized tech they can copy
>>
>>544343505
Why the FUCK do people make these stupid fucking hypotheticals that make no fucking sense in on the very false premise they stand on?

Of course they wouldn't be able to "reverse engineer" the computerized aspects, what they would instead do is reverse engineer the parts they understand and apply them to their prototype jet.

I fucking hate people.
>>
>>544343505
Reverse engineering is much easier than developing from scratch. The alloys and fuel would be the real problem but not impossible. The computers would be impossible to replicate quickly but you could make them function without it using manual tech they had until those systems were understood.

Ever seen those African planes? It would be like that.

The brilliant German Konrad Ernst Otto Zuse
invented the world's first programmable computer in 1941, just two years later than our assumed scenario. With German ingenuity everything is possible.

>>544343505
Why would the German's be confused about fighter jets when they invented them towards the latter part of WW2? If anything out of all the countries fighting in WW2 the German's would have the easiest time reverse-engineering modern jets while everyone else would have a very difficult time since they were all still using propeller planes.

This
>>
>>544344550
I'll also add, they don't have to copy everything, even just design principles and applying that to inferior materials would get the job done.

>you could make them function without it
The role of the computer in modern jet fighters is adaptive behaviour, like adjusting wing surfaces or compiling radar data. This would be like replacing the EMS chips in modern cars with manual solutions. You just can't. The krauts could reasonably learn a lot about engine design though.
>>
>>544344817
you vastly underestimate how much bullshit a sufficiently complex mechanical computer is capable of
that said a one might simply be too large to work in a jet

Germany won because of their tank doctrine. Speed and communication is what led to Frances defeat and their tanks were better nearly in every way.

They did the opposite in Russia but to be fair Russia was so underdeveloped it wasn't funny. You had cities which had dirt roads between them and similar places in western Europe had cities where their populations were 1/3 the size and built the roads 30 years ago.

France were also stupid with their military doctrine thinking we were getting another WW1. But to say Germany won by luck is an outright lie.
>>
>>544344021
Nazi Germany invented the programmable computer, and the first programming language, Plankalkül. I have a feeling they'd figure it out.
>>
>>544343505
It would have taken a LONG time. They'd have to overcome a lot of hurdles in metallurgy and fabrication alone. The amount of rare earths and precious metals modern electronics require would be very difficult to mine and process in 1939. The existence of the fighter jet wouldn't inform them as to how these supply chains ought to function, only what the end product should be. If they found a modern fighter jet in 1939, they would have made improvements to their aircraft -especially in jet engine technology- but you wouldn't be seeing Spitfires and Mustangs fighting 5th gen fighters.
>>
>>544343953
The anti-German propaganda was originally about heroic GIs as the "American underdog" fighting a superpower, to appeal to boomers. However, as generations of disenfranchised young White men born in the 90s onwards saw the weakness and impotence of their supposed leaders today, and looked longingly back towards Germany as an example of an assertive and powerful White country that looked after its own, even if they weren't themselves German, the jews had to flip the propaganda around so that Germany would not look like an ideal of strength and power anymore.

A nuclear weapon on the other hand, that they could do.

damn, jeets really think like this?

Yeah man the Germans would totally just stare at a USSR jet for 3 days and eat the fucking components for taste as opposed to actually taking it apart. Dogshit

SWEET MOTHER OF GOD
Indeed, they could probably hold out for a couple more years. Maybe even have a win if they manage to outmanuever the RAF and conquer Brittain. Of course they'd still have the USSR to contend with, but I think they'd be able to come to a cease-fire, long enough for germans to finish reverse-engineering the computers and bomb Moscow back into the stone age.
>>
It doesn't matter. Germans had plenty of advanced tech. They lacked oil. That is why they lost, no oil to scale the use of advanced tech.
A jet engine uses fuel faster than anything else and would not have helped significantly.
