The Trump era has been particularly divisive, so you're right about that.But prior to that democrats have a bit of a dirty trick where the representatives talk like that, about unity and such, but the footsoldiers (media, talking head partisan hacks, and anybody that chooses to parrot the talking points) do everything they can to frame up politics as good guys vs bad guys.I don't say this to defend Trump (because I dislike him) but he's really only as divisive as an average democrat voter. Granted the actual politicians usually hold themselves to higher standards.
