She came to America in 1995 on an asylum claim. I think there's more to her story though. Her father was a high ranking officer in the Somali Army. He would've had a lot of political influence. Did the US cut a deal with her father? Was she allowed to migrate to the US despite obviously not being an asylum seeker, because Somalia had something the US wanted?
