RCN guy here, one of my buddies knows a guy there, apparently they were doing training with carl Gs and somehow an ammo dump/fuel dump went up, he says at least 7 dead
>>544527044They were doing live fire exercises and an insane wind blew out of nowhere all of a sudden. 100km+ winds. When fire spreads that fast there's nowhere to escape it. It was bad enough I'm posting in the dark because of a power outage that won't be fixed until sometime in the evening tomorrow. Also, the wells are low pressure wells on the base, they aren't going to blowout bad enough to injure that many people. The pipelines on the base are enclosed in culverts, buried twice as deep as regular lines and have concrete in top. There are wells on CFB Suffield and Wainwright and if live fire was going to do this it wouldn't be the first time today. Chalk this up to incompetent command, probably not a great idea to live fire in a windstorm like this but then again, it did come out of nowhere.
