Ironically by making the standards too high to be a nurse, they lowered the standards. My mom got a respiratory tech job in the late-80s without a degree, just a normal work history. Nursing isn't an intellectual or skillful job. It's hard at times, but absolutely does not require degrees or credentials. They aren't doctors, despite their ideas to the contrary.
