The only thing this idiot needs to do is make Teslas charge thier own batteries while driving. It's the simplest thing to do. We don't need flying cars. We need cars that can drive indefinitely. Put a small crank generator on each wheel and it will never run out of juice. So simple. Why he wont do?

>>544550646>Teslas charge thier own batteriesI don't think you understand how this works. You can't just slap an alternator in one and adding wireless charging to interstate infrastructure would literally cost over a trillion. The only feasible way to do that would be toll roads and it would suck.

Which are being slowed by the friction of the generations AND gravity. All that would get you is a vehicle that steadily slows down to a stop. You might get an extra twenty miles. But it'll take you two hours to traverse that extra distance. Just remove gravity and friction and your plan would work like a dream.

>>544551241It does charge, but not at a rate that would replenish the energy cost of moving the vehicle forward. No exceptions. Second law of thermodynamics.

they already do this for braking and going down hills. Hybrids also do this sort of thing. Think how much energy it takes to accelerate a heavy car to 25 mph. If they didn't do this sort of thing they'd constantly be losing tons of energy at every stopsign.
You all are missing the point. If it's possible to have fans on a car and air jets that let it do flips and hang upside-down, there is no reason why you couldn't have a system that charges the battery while the wheels are spinning.

>>544554631No. I'm asking for an electric vehicle that generates its own charge while in motion.
>>544554706It doesn't work like that. It takes more energy to move to two tom car then it can generate.
>>544554706And the answer you’ve received is that they already do that, but only when slowing down or braking.
>>544554766The battery is providing the power to move the car. You can trickle back energy to the battery by using alternators on each wheel to send a current back to the battery. This isn't rocket science. The truth is that this is totally possible. But kikes wont allow it.
>>544554821Makes no sense. Why when braking or slowing down? I have a crank radio that charges the battery more when I spin it faster. How does that not apply to something like a car battery?
>>544554952You can recover some of the energy sure. But there is no fucking way to make a perpetual motion device without nuclear. It will take more energy than you can get back. Always.
>>544555059Thermodynamics. You can never get more energy out than you put in, and you lose a little bit (or a lot) to heat and to entropy. It’s just how it is.
>>544555136So you agree then that it's possible to have an EV that can go like 5000 miles without a recharge?
>>544555198Okay. Jew science. But okay. How about an EV that uses alternators on each wheel to send a charge back to the battery so you can drive 5000 miles without a recharge?
I came up with an idea but I'm not sure how feasible it is.Im considering testing a threaded driveshaft design to likely power a pump or to convert the screw motion into battery power with minimal drag. I figure the driveshaft spins anyway when driving and it's already perpendicular to direction of airflow. Maybe some sort of aluminum sealed sleeve around a threaded driveshaft.I haven't dwelled on it much so I'm still stuck on converting the motion into something usable.Or a diy regenerative braking system for my truck with 4.88 gearing and 35 inch tires. Like using an arduino or esp32 microcontroller to selectively connect or disconnect a generator attached to the cv axles or driveshaft when braking or going downhill
What's puzzling me is why the military aren't all over electric off-road vehicles. Obviously not tracked, but imagine a cross between the new roadster and a humvee. Insane top speed on the road, resistant to light arms fire, low Infra-red, able to jump gaps and (with proper sealing) remain submerged using a carbon scrubber for air.Stick a small diesel generator motor in it to recharge overnight, and a minigun on the roof swivel. It would have huge pulling power, and you could run all sorts of useful tech out of it, like chainsaws, water pumps and purifiers.
>>544555391You’ve moved the goalposts and I’m stupid for feeding a troll anyway. Peace.
>>544555289Sure? I don't know. Has battery tech become that good? Why does it matter? EV still rely on electricity which has to be converted from something. We need more nuclear power. All there is to it. If you want EV then you need to support the mass funding of nuclear power plants
>>544555395Keep going, anon! Although... If you figure this out, you'll probably end up dead. Kikes don't like self sufficiency.

>>544555567I personally don't want EVs. I'm just curious why Mr. Mars Musk can't figure out how to make the battery life of his stolen car design work more efficiently.
>>544555533How have I moved the goal post?
>>544555510It's 100% because of the range. Energy density in batteries is not as good as the energy density in liquid fuels. It's not even close, we're talking 30 or even 50 times the energy density, depending on what fuel.
>>544555729No you're asking why he can't perform magic... You seem set on the fact a car can just charge its own battery with motion. It isn't possible, man.
>>544553223>How is it 2 forces working against eachother? The wheel spinning is the source of the power. It's not working against anything.Bait but I'll biteA generator has to physically contact the spinning wheel axle/motor with carbon brushes or whatever to create an electric charge, and that creates drag because the generator is physically fighting the rotation of the wheel/axle to harness energyBUT, if you meant the ROLLING motion of the wheel, you could possibly lay out some sort of regenerative bumpers or shocks that build up a charge whenever a wheel rolls over it, but idk how effective that isAlso, the wheels on a car spin because the energy from gasoline being combusted in your engine powers them
>>544555973But we can fly into space and land on the moon but also not be able to check the bottom of the ocean here on earth kind stuff?
I am also puzzled, but the thing I am puzzled by is the resistance to standardized battery sizes. If there was standardized battery sizes instead of every car make insisting on their own, you could have battery stations along roads. You'd pull up to the station, hand in your depleted battery, then get a new battery in return. You would only pay for the difference in recharge costs and wear and tear. It would be cheap, efficient, and would create a strong incentive for energy and battery efficiency. Yet we put up with every EV maker LARPing that their own size and make is the gold standard for everything everywhere. Fuck, if you had standardized battery sizes, an EV could even have modular battery slots, meaning you could decide on your own how much juice you feel you need to load your car with. If you're farting around the same city, you only need a few batteries. If you want to go longer, you can just add extra batteries. It'd add weight, but not more than the stored energy needed to move it.
>>544554706No you should be asking for the road infrastructure that would be able to deliver a charge to the automobile as it's functioning. Sort of like how trolleys work, but wirelessly.
What a remarkably retarded OP. Did you presume that a battery can infinitely recharge itself? Did you really believe that there is not only no energy lost during propulsion, but that there can be energy gained such that the battery can recharge?Nigger, how fucking dumb are you?
>>544555975I understand that the wheels are being powered by energy. But you should be able to put that energy back with an EV. Not all of it. But enough to make them more efficient. They should easily be able to go 5x farther than they currently do.

>>544550646> charge thier own batteries while driving. This oc is not possible because you inevitably drain the battery to accelerate and keep moving in the first place. What you could do, however, is recuperation of at least a part of the energy when decelerating by converting the kinetic force back into electricity. The problem with this remains the loss of conversion, the low degree of efficiency when trying to store this recuperated energy in the battery again. It would be much more efficient to reuse this electricity immediately for acceleration, like at the end of curves. This is how it's being used in motor sport.
>>544556350Yeah the issue with that is mostly related to efficiency and materials science. It's possible in theory but the only requirement is that the entire vehicle and passengers must weigh almost nothing And by that metric, theoretically we should've already been recycling all the losses from gas engines via exhaust and other mechanisms to drive much longer distances but every attempt makes the car unreliable as fuck

Most of the energy lost in a combustion vehicle is heat, and drag from wind. Friction and such is a miniscule portion. Like 15% perhaps. If you want to be more fuel efficient, you need to capture and convert excess heat into energy, and then make drag from wind a lot less.

It could I suppose, since smaller batteries allow space for bigger or different generator designs. To be honest whenever I think up plans for a car that could drive indefinitely, I eventually conclude with the equivalent of motionless, silent nothingnessThe only way really is to have solar power that is 100% efficient on a lightweight car with no batteries at all. The car would have to be powered purely by solar panel alone and to drive indefinitely you will need to go fast enough to keep up with the sun at all times due to the rotation of the earth
>>544555943I get that. But the trade off in less noise, IR detection, and torque/speed has to be worth it in a field scenario. >>544560179That could work actually. I was thinking making every EV owner pump at least 10% of the energy required for a particular trip into an accumulator. The EV won't start until you first select a destination, after which it will calculate the energy needed and require you to crank pedals for a specific amount of time to accumulate 10% of the necessary energy requirements. With adjustable resistance of course, in the event you want to pedal harder to get energy faster so you can start driving earlier
Actually, why aren't all gyms using machines that can collect energy from people via resistance? I would be much more inclined to work out if it added fuel to my tank
>>544560315>doesn't that violate some thermodynamics thingYes. Thus far, we have found no way to produce "free" energy. All the energy we "produce" is just taking the results of existing energetic processes and harnessing them in a useful way (minus inefficiencies). Water, wind, solar, nuclear, fossil fuels, ALL of it. When we harness these powers, the energy we get out of them is less than the energy it took to get them into a useable form. The entire universe, as we know it, is a machine slowly winding down, and all useful processes are a result of siphoning off energy from preexisting processes as systems move from a state of lower entropy to a state of higher entropy. We find pockets of low entropy and build our civilization on the boundaries those low entropy pockets share with the higher-entropy universe beyond them.

>>544561427>Tell me there aren't people who would make their kids do the peddling. There surely would be, but the kid would need to sit in the driver seat and pedal a grown adult's weight worth of drag, which will take substantially longer due to an adults strength and leg length advantage. Every footwell will have pedals, and every passenger will have to pedal what they're worthYOU VIL CRANK ZA PEEDALYOU VIL REIMBURSE YOUR EGZISTENCEYOU VIL BE UNHAPPYI VIL BE HAPPY

>>544550776Well, they suck at everything else even more. Batteries - chinese comoanies are way ahead? Promissed self driving 10 years ago - still in development and other companies do it better. What else is tesla?
