quantitative easing, not tech.
Also the entire economy is nonexistent because whenever the government needs money, it just prints it out.

There's no QE now
interest rates are at the historical average

And the economy isn't tanking. It's still holding up.

ultimately tech is self-limiting. automation leads to wealth accumulation for a chosen few, but ultimatel destroys the middle class lifestyle which modern technological (automated) abundance ought to provide for free. it takes so little real labor to sustain the entire economy (due to tech efficiencies), where is the utopia? instead we have moonshit ai companies, million dollar housing, expensive infrastructure, traffic, and skyhigh energy/transportation/fuel/food/health/edu/etc prices. at best, tech sector can only delay broad economic reversion to broad baseline total economy perfomance. we cant live if only FIRE and AI companies make wealth--too few receive capital formation benefits leading to revolutionary redistributions that destroy and replace entire capital systems in one pass of the axe. we should steive for better behaviors, economically speaking, than collapse of ownership rights.

Most of the housing shortage is caused by nimbys, local governments, and some federal housing regulations.

It's difficult to build new housing when most of the system is actively hostile toward you doing it.

It's made worse by housing being a poor investment
but there are a lot of industries with low returns that are perfectly functional
housing is completely dysfunctional

I regularly get banned for ban evasion even though I haven't been previously banned. Why are jannies even not paid for? They probably consider me a vatnigger because I have realistic worldview and a dangerously accurate picture of what the Russia-Ukraine war is, and speak openly about it.

not every region is the same. most of US cities formed around natural transportation advantages. some, like california, further contain gold, leading to hundreds of years of compounding capital advantage. thus, CA gives birth to tech--but only 50 years later, look at what cost? all the inflation(s) are caused, by definition, by capital misallocation. million dollar houses = dead civilization. transportation matters much less in our postmodern economy (tech economy) than in the rich US regions historical epoch of sustain economic advantage. the failure of Tech sector based broad economy sustainment is somewhat pronounced: if you learned to code, youre fucked right now if you get fired. and thus, for an entire middle class sector of our economy, the million dollar houses are going to go underwater and implode entire families lifestyle just because coders are going to become like horses and be put out to pasture by the millions. so too doctors, lawyers, most white collar professionals, and most cities, when the horde of economic zombies stars showing up looking for UBI across the entire knowledge economy.

Tech busts like everything else, that's what the dotcom bubble was.
Also we should have had a recession in 2008, that was the subprime mortgage crisis.

We ultimately didn't because Obama betrayed the working class homeowners and bailed out finance and the banks.
Also China spent 586 billion USD buying US debt to stabilize the US markets, 'bailing out' the US from collapse, and is why they have so many infrastructure projects since then like skyscrapers and rail and bridges. They essentially went on a spending spree so the global markets had enough money pumped into them to not completely collapse.

But yea the poor US response to the 2008 financial crisis has just meant that the can was kicked down the road since the bad structural financial forces that led to the initial imminent 2008 collapse were never corrected, which is why these last few decades (2008- onward) have felt like we were living inside a stasis chamber, because we're basically delaying a collapse indefinitely.

There's millions of people that are poor right now
they're not being given any help, and are left to fend for themselves.

That's how it is in America.

Anyway, most jobs that are replaceable by AI are make work jobs. Those jobs haven't been needed for years already. They'll be taken care of just like they are now.

The cycle just got stretched out, it hasn't disappeared.
Fiat collapse is now on the table instead of a relatively 'simple' worldwide depression.
