What is our honest take on this book?

Is it essential reading?

Was Machiavelli based or cringe?
>>
>>544591343
bro read one book about power and decided being a sociopath is political theory
>>
>>544591343
Never read this book, personally i have some mackiavellian traits in me but usually i prefer to speak plainly.
>>
>>544591343
It's a nice book. You should read it. It has some nice insights.
But,Don't expect to learn too much from it
>>
>>544591343
It’s so fucking sort, you retarded memeflag jeet. Just read it and then make a thread about your opinion: it would be way better.
To answer more directly, it was part based and part cringe. His philosophy as a whole is kind of trash and honestly I find it hard to believe the elites have ever followed it directly, as is commonly the thing people assume to be true, because it all is just so fuckin’ ineffective by the useful parts being rendered useless by the retarded parts. The elites would never let us have useful governance knowledge and especially not anything which could be used against them. “Everyone gets an equal vote :^)”
The based parts were all based on self control and how to calmly interact with others when they’re fucking horrible. You could get that from other reading though. Seneca is significantly more based than Aurelius in that regard.

Had to read it, poli sci 101, when I was 18. That was 26 years ago. There was a character on Soulcalibur that was based on Machiavelli, being a cuck, masochistic servant for his master. That was the agreed upon opinion held of Machiavelli 25 years ago. I don't remember the character, but when you win with him, he resurrects his master. This was on Sega Dreamcast.
>>
>>544591343
It's based. Only peasants disagree

>Mansfield translation
Neocon ASMR is an academic buffoon.
>>
>>544591343

It sure is just one of these common sense self help books. Probably educational. He might have been handling crayon eaters.
>>
>>544591343
Essential read no matter what, if you read.
"mundus vult decipi ergo decipiatur"

Then pick a side.
>>
>>544591343
Pure evil. Machiavelli was a sociopath and there is nothing redeeming about this book. Empathy needs to be the basis of any political action.
>>
>>544591343
One of the most redpilled political texts of all time.

>>544591997
What’s wrong with Mansfield?

When I was a kid a read it, is actually pretty good but I am not a sociopath but gives you a really good insight in to the mind of them.
>Love is good but fear is how you accomplish shit
>Is not about them is about you
>End justify the means
>So on so forth

The mandrake is actually really good comedy that is totally underrated, I should read it again just to remember what it was about, I can't remember it was so long ago I just remember I enjoyed it
>>
>>544591343
He was saying that a successful leader should simp for the goddess Fortuna. Basically he was a proto cuck
>>
>>544591693
How the fuck a proletariat Will use a book like the price against the elitist you dumb fuck.
The book is written towards an individual that is assumed to have power already but is too incompetent or naive to weld it, is not written for some fucking taco bender who dreams of becoming hot shot in the taco scene.
The idea is that you become one of them, not to fight against them.

If you're planning to getting in to politics the price is a must read
>>
>>544593547
>yes I am a cuck I like when people fuck on my bitch
>>
>>544591997
Name a better translation then.
>>
>>544591343
It's under an hour's worth of reading. You should really read Discourses on Livy to understand him.
>>
I think the most relevant part to modern politics is where he said you can fuck people over as hard as you want but as long as you aren't literally fucking their wives they will roll over and take it because revolting is more inconvenient to people than being oppressed.
>>
>>544593931
And he says that where? Machiavelli is very insistent that you need to maintain the support of the populace, advices against residing in a fortified castle because you must maintain popular support and there's no point trying to hide and barricade yourself from them.
>>
>>544593689
leaders had been simping for a dead semite for over a millennium at that point, Fortuna sounds like an immense improvement
>>
>>544593311
>What’s wrong with Mansfield?
Straussian cabal member
>>
>>544594008
>Nevertheless a prince ought to inspire fear in such a way that, if he does not win
love, he avoids hatred; because he can endure very well being feared whilst he is not
hated, which will always be as long as he abstains from the property of his citizens and subjects and from their women. But when it is necessary for him to proceed against the
life of someone, he must do it on proper justification and for manifest cause, but above
all things he must keep his hands off the property of others, because men more quickly
forget the death of their father than the loss of their patrimony.
basically saying that being a tyrant is fine as long as you don't steal their women or their shit.

>>544594927
You have shit tranny taste anyway, so why not?
>>
>>544591997
He’s based though.

>>
>>544591343
You should read the Discourses first. That’s where Machiavelli political program is lay out with honesty, and it will absolutely surprise you. Hint hint he was a republican.
The prince is a book he wrote in honor of Lorenzo de Medici to get a place in his cabinet after years of exile. It is full of contradictions and clearly a work of propaganda
>>
>>544591590
Ur just blind to reality. Willingly so. It makes you comfotable.

Machiavelli was a sociopath like an executioner is a criminal.
>>
If you are smart and decide to read the Discourses instead, start with the following chapter:
Book III, Chapter 26, titled "How States Are Ruined on Account of Women"
>>
>here is how to act like an evil jew to get your way
Yeah, so based OP.
>>
>>544591851
>anarchists defending psychopaths

I'm not surprised. Anarchism was only revived in America due to the workings of the CIA.
>>
it's for midwits who think they are MaStuR mAniPulatoR wjen they're just cringey assholes irl
>>
>>544596498
you are adhering to an outdated jewish social construct

you bootlickers and abusers need to go to the dustbin of history faster
>>
>>544596570
Is the discourses that one book he wrote where he pretends to have a conversation?
>>
>>544596487
Finally someone mentions it.
Everyone reads the prince and bases their opinion of him on that, because most people aren’t going to read what survives of Livy and then Mac’s discourses about it (even though they should cause it’s fucking good)
>>
>>544594927
It's literally saying the opposite: don't do anything that causes you to be hated by the populace, especially not steal any of their property which will cause them to hate you. He's saying causing fear is dangerous because it can cause you to be hated, so if you have to cause fear you must do it in particular discriminate ways so it does not cause you to be hated.

The typical way he advised this is to get all the killing out of the way at the very start of your reign, then never do it again, because people will accept an initial very short period of passion and fury, but never a prolonged norm of tyranny.
>>
>>544596773
No, it's a treatise on episodes of Roman history (the historian Livy) which discusses political principles and ideas drawn from it, which he also relates to other historical episodes, particular from Florence and Italy. It's much longer and more thorough than The Prince. He did write several plays, probably as closet (non-performing) plays like>>544593547
>>
>>544596684
No, it's a foundational work of political realism that profoundly affected European history. Every courtier in Europe read it. It's no surprise that after he advises in Discourses on Livy that rulers should invent their own new religion, a few decades later the Protestant Reformation breaks out with half the nobility in Europe supporting it (and Anglicanism in England too).
>>
>>544593547
Unironically i sometimes wish i had more of that chuzpa. For whatever reason.
>>
>>544596498
Machiaveilli was a demon from the pits of hell.

We need CHRIST in politics.
>>
>>544593547
Mandragola (Mandrake) is literally about political cuckoldry.
>>
>>544599092
Only a demon could support something that evil.
