OP didn't mention most of hte 'christians' in japan are racially japanese and went to christian schools because their ancestors 100 years ago at the japanese empire's peak were also christian, but the ones who marry into the Imperial family convert to the Shinto/buddhist religion. Japanese people also see Shinto/Buddhism/Christianity as basically interchangeable Amaterasu/Buddha/Jesus.
