Food is going to keep getting more expensive.War affects agricultural land, kills off people who would normally work on farms and fucks over logistics.Governments are dramatically inflating costs by taxing emissions, fertilizers and labour.Oligopolies continuously try to squeeze every ounce of profit out of the necessities of life for "shareholder value" at the expense of civilization itself. It's only going to get worse over the coming years. I hope you've been preparing for this.
>>544610952>It's only going to get worse over the coming years. I hope you've been preparing for this.Yes, I have started shoplifting at the self checkout since covid. I have stolen more than €10.000 in steaks alone
>>544611116This is not a long term solution. You should be planting perennial food crops and raising livestock, if at all possible.
Farming can only feed so many people by massive petrochemical/oil use. This system will cease to function as oil runs out and topsoil erodes. I give us max 50 years before the world population is halved by famine.
>>544611151>You should be planting perennial food crops and raising livestockI'm not a millionaire
You can go far with potatoes and eggs. Spinach/chard and a preferred berry is second order.
Food being expensive is not the fault of the farmers though. Farmers account for the tiniest portion of food's end price. Like milk could increase by ten cents per liter, it's fucking nothing to consumer but the farmer would benefit massively.
Soon to be hybridised!
It's fine we'll import 4 million jeets a year to keep making food.
>>544611423You don't need to be rich to grow food for yourself.
>>544611611Like I said, it's really the politicians and oligopolies at fault.
>>544611584Chickens need food. The more varied their diet, the better the quality of the meat and eggs. A shrub that drops ripened fruit can go a long way towards that.
>>544611370We already see a massive decline in quality of store-bought food. I had eggs the other day where the yolks were so pale the scramble looked white.
>>544610952almost as many kind of kiwis types as aborginals
>>544617735I just harvested my kolomikta's the other day. They are like CANDY. Way sweeter than the fuzzy kiwis you're used to.I put some in a raspberry jam and it was fucking amazing.
