With all the home invasions and riots happening, would an Forced Reset Trigger be overkill for home defense?

you wont do shit

As long as you know there is nothing important behind your target, why not light them the fuck up.

An FRT would give every Karen in your jury a big ick

Do your homework to find one that's more than just a toy, something actually suitable for duty use, and then test it thoroughly. I like the concept, but I'm not sure we're there yet or if we ever will be, owing to the fact that the design necessarily robs the bolt of a varying amount of velocity depending on how much pressure is applied to the trigger. Binary trigger systems may be a better compromise.

Binary triggers are fuckin weird, and fuck with all my muscle memory.
Popping off a round on trigger release just short circuits my brain. I am sure it's a training issue, and if I put the time to git gud, I probably could be.
But as it sits, I just leave my binary trigger on semi, because shits too funky for me.

Besides, you don't need more rounds at your target, you need accurate rounds on target. FRTs, bumpstocks, and binary triggers all make your follow-up shots almost impossible to land
