Society is never going to reach the point of megastructures and enormous looming neon ads and all the other trappings of the corporate cyberpunk dystopias of fiction, it’s just going to be what we have now but continuously decaying. A world of patched vinyl siding homes and drab corporate buildings and offices and schools with stained drop tile ceilings, but with fewer garbage pick ups and police patrols and sparser shelves, more potholes and empty businesses and longer wait times for critical appointments.

It’s like that scene from 1984 where Winston reflects that the party can’t even achieve the level of terrifying austere efficiency depicted in its own propaganda. The corporate dystopia we were taught to fear is at least something dynamic and impressive in its vast grotesquery, the one we’re headed for is squat and cramped and bland.

More like a setting from a forgettable Adult Swim series with “LLC” in the title than the glowing neon world of Neo America, Inc.

The future is now.

the sheer amount of trash and garbage generated daily is crazy. and i try to have minimal impact. it's a nightmare when you scale it.

Correct. 90s was our golden age and its been decaying ever since. The fucking 90s. That was it. I don't even like the 90s

By now we should have had glass skyscrapers on the horizon overlooking spacious suburbs with automatic housekeepers or enormous neon canyon cities like in Blade Runner.

That photo is nearly 20 years old.

>90s

Lmao.
The golden age was right before the industrial revolution, you know, when people actually had value.

Have you seen your in home wiring? There are at least 5 fire risk flaws in each room. Most homes are improperly grounded. Plumbing is patchwork of old and new and 6 different materials.

Every house has extensive mold damage and pinhole plumbing leaks. The walls are filled with insects. The roof with old roofing material and corpses of small mammals.

Your cars thermstat is held in by a thin bolt that can snap easily from corrosion. God forbid a single thread is messed up, massive leak and an overheated engine.

Most computers have little frail alumnium 24 gauge wires that will fry everything on the PCB if dislodged. EVERYTHING humans make is made cheaply and for profit. Everything is cheap. I promise you, if you knew how things really are, you would have known there wouldnt be a future.

society is literally a pile of shit arranged in semi-orderly fashion and giftwrapped. AND you keep nothing you buy.

>The golden age was right before the industrial revolution, you know, when people actually had value
you and your people have literally been living in the jungle for the past 500 years, who are you to speak on the 90s or 80s or any former decade for that matter?

>when people actually had value
That's a funny way to describe Whites when their women were not feminist witches, enjoying homogeneous societies absent of brown invaders.

>Society is never going to reach the point of megastructures
Already happened,it just wasn't America. Capitalism failed and socialism won
