The US will finally start getting dense, Hong Kong-style apartment buildings. The '100 Gold Street' development has been approved for lower Manhattan. The project would include a 1,250-foot apartment tower with more than 4,000 family-sized residential units, meaning that 20,000 or more people cold be living on a parcel of around 30,000 square feet of land, or slightly less than 0.7 acres (0.3 hectares), making it the densest residential area in the entire US.

The site is currently occupied by a 9-floor office building and parking structure was has suffered from low occupancy and unrented space in recent years. Would you live in an Asian-style apartment tower in America, /pol/? Should this type of development be encouraged?

The starting price for a condo (probably less than 800 sq ft) is $1 million. Any buyers?

Probably less than that. 4000 units is a lot but it will still be $1 million for a shoebox.

Meanwhile, in Toronto. A Jewish construction company did this, defaulted and now one bloor west is looking to have costed $3 billion to make. Only 416 units, but they’re decent sized. However they’re all going over $7 million because Jews did their own big dig here and all the high rises in Toronto being constructed by Jewish architecture and construction companies.

I believe they are attempting to but emptying them out is going to require offering them space at the same rate elsewhere which means the ROI is long term

It's called mixed use and its not a new concept outside of the height. People wont even have to leave the building for days. take the elevator to work, then up a few floors to the grocery store then up to your apartment.
less likely to get robbed. take a walk across different levels of floor or treadmill in the gym. wont even have to leave unless you want to go visit people in midtown or Brooklyn etc.

I think it's a mistake honestly. fire hazard. if someone wanted to bomb the place or use something like thermate to start a fucking fire it would be super fucking hard to supress. people will die in mass numbers.

especially if this becomes the norm. it's what has stopped it in the past.

also you can make 20 floors in the basement level below street for low income and housing for next to nothing but again, the fire hazard is the problem.

Somewhat related if the OP's appartment total number is true then it'd have just over double the number of apartments than the 12 buildings that make up that section of Projects.

kek
they even put in the crane of the stalled, unfinished tower (for years) near the WTC site

lol 20 floors vs 110 floors
imagine cops having to walk up 100 flights because the elevator is knocked out

Are there any tunnels in that area they could connect to? Closest i can find is the Fulton street station which is on the other side of the Southbridge Towers complex.
>>
>>544644369
I don't care what city slickers do so long as they stay there.
>>
>>544647970
>people will die in mass numbers.
The only skyscraper fire to kill more than 200 people were the Twin Towers on 9/11. One of these Hong Kong style apartments caught fire last year and barely 100 people died.
>>
>>544644369
People will still buy them and live miserable slave rat lives and not understand why they are depressed.
That all while im sure that those apartments will cost more than a nice rural house with a ton of land, fresh air and a nice community.
>>
>>544644369
People have to have jobs to pay for apartments though

>>544644369

Right. I got 1.5 acres and a house for 150k for my family of 5. It's surrounded by fields and trees. The only neighbor within earshot is a crazy old guy that raises horses and hunting dogs across the street. Nigger hive dwellers will never understand true comfiness.
