You can mask your scent with hunting products. There are anti-bite snake chaps, and anti bite clothing from psych wards that work. However, infected saliva on the skin will also slowly turn you. At least, it will make you sick. Bunkers do work, but you best lay out thick rubber mats and insulate your wiring better to not vibrate. You still need to keep quiet. Honestly, it's better to end yourself and your families rather than try to survive the zombie apocalypse.
Zombies can drive vehicles. With initial infection, zombies retain some of their human abilities such as driving. They can drive a distance for x amount of time before they crash and jump out of the car and take off running. These zombies are super fast, like 28 Days Later zombies.
The zombie apocalypse is so terrifying that it's not even suitable for US audiences to capture the authenticity of the disease. And that is saying something, as American audiences love or at least a large enough population do, their horror genres.
