For us to be truly free, He has to allow us to choose against Him. He could have created us in such a way where we would obey Him because we have no other choice, but where is the freedom in this?Instead, God created us to be free, and because we recognize the good in Him through what has been revealed to us in Christ, we are able to choose Him freely.A person who does good because he has no other choice proves nothing of himself, but a person who does good when he could have done evil reveals that he desires the good.And in that day, those who will take part in His eternal life: their love is real, because they loved where they could have hated, they forgave where they could have sought revenge, they were generous where they could have been greedy, and they showed compassion where they could have been indifferent.This is true love: that you sacrifice the self and its impulses and desires for the good of others.
