German engineering is
officially dead.

>Builds the tallest wind turbine ever made
>Taller than Eiffel Tower
>The capacity is 3 MW
>They've used up all the steel for a fucking 3 MW shitty turbine
>A food waste of a small town would generate 15x more capacity in biomass

I understand if they made those chink turbines that makes 16 MW per turbine, But Germany is struggling to achieve even a 3 MW capacity and is forced to build massive megastructures just to accomplish that.
>>
>>544655747
What exactly was the point in putting it at that height anyway? Wind turbines already waste enough resources in their creation, this one wasted what looks like three times more.
EROI makes wind turbines a literal scam btw. Any form of energy conversion that cannot survive without forced taxpayer donations cannot possibly be anything else.

EROI is about to make oil a scam too. We're very close to approach 50/50 on it, meaning that 50% of the energy we get from what we use that oil for has to go into the equipment it took to get it to us.
Beyond that, oil literally cannot sustain society.
>>
Maybe they outsourced to cheap slav company?

The taller you go the more powerful the wind gets. It's very powerful. Everything past 200-250 meters can knock anything down. And it's constant, literally 24/7.

Wind speeds are higher and more even further from the ground. There is hardly any windspeed at the ground at the boundary layer between the ground and air and a considerable speed up higher, so that causes uneven pitching torque on the bearing, causing inefficiency and faster wear. The second option is the consultant that the wind turbine manufacturers sent might have pushed for approval of the larger built both for better paycheck and to build something that might essentially be a proof of concept to boost the manufacturers portfolio.

Wind power really is a scam and an eyesore to boot. It's low power and highly volatile/unpredictable in terms of output.

As far as renewables go, solar and hydro are the ultimate way to generate electricity.

A well managed country should have like 50% power produced via nuclear, 30% via renewable solar and hydro and 20% via a mix of coal, gas and more exotic renewables like tidal and geothermal
>>
>>544655747
Theres no wind in Germany. Also its flat so can't hydropower, and cloudy so solar is fuck. And no high enthalpy rock so geothermal prospect is meh. The agricultural is mostly sand plain so biomass generation needs relatively high mineral input. Then there is a tiny bit of ocean, small waves, tides in a null - nope, nope, nope. Brown coal, not black, no hydrocarbon liquid, no gas, say hello greenhouse gases. Its like they rolled all 1's on being green. There's some perverse masochism here.

Why not make a kind of inflatable turbine? One that uses hydrogen and is anchored to the ground by power cables feeding into the grid. Not even helium, but hydrogen, something that is so fucking plentiful and cheap it'd be retarded not to use it. A giant zeppelin turbine. That's better than whatever this is, right?
>hurr durr hydrogen is flammable and corrosive
Give me a better, more available, and cheaper gas. Get those and anchor them a mile high, swap out crews with a helo every few days to keep the structure maintained. It would never need to touch the ground. Like an airborne oil rig.

nah, we had a good spring/summer and usually have a golden fall as well. solar is an option, just not year round. wind turbines are a massive scam and an even more massive nuisance. did you know they need energy to start rotation? we have a lot of these around here and i never see a bunch of them rotate in unison. the odd one might go too fast and be scary af if you have to drive past it.

3.8MW with very high uptime is very good performance for a 126m rotor. It's a test model in either case, if it works as they think it will they will install bigger 7MW units for the next ones.

>>544656035
Stronger and more consistent winds, it makes lot more energy than the surrounding wind turbines simply because it's higher up, something like 60-100% more. The consistency in particular is valuable, not just in absolute terms of literally more power per turbine but in particular for wind power sales environment where wind is most valuable when other wind isn't producing as much. The extra steel isn't exactly free but a lattice tower like that isn't all that expensive compared to the wind turbine itself. The real innovation isn't "just put it higher up" which is sort of trivial but the construction itself since you can't really go up that high with normal cranes, they used a telescopic extending tower instead.
>>
>>544659093
You guys never should have removed your nuclear power plants.
>>
>>544659018
When you factor in all the oil, labor, and concrete it takes just to build them, they actually use up more energy than they ever make. We'd be better off just shipping natural gas and using that for the next few decades.

Green hydrogen could be great, but only if we produce it offshore where there’s tons of sunlight. Once we find a good replacement for platinum, fuel cells becomes cheap and we could just make methane, which is literally just hydrogen and carbon and ship that around instead.
>>
>>544658943

Onshore wind typically pays it's energy cost back in about 6-10 months out of it's 20 year lifespan. 15:1 is a very conservative estimate on how much energy these things output per energy input. That is of course factoring in everything.
>>
>>544659414
The truth is wind energy is the most practical and theoretical best in energy production. But we need a better way to harvest that than what we have now.

>>544659414
What makes me curious are the actual production costs factoring environmental standards differences and the non-recyclable aspects as well as buffering loss and investment in additional infrastructure required ranging from batteries to cabling. germany will drag us down, if their car industry stops we are fucked too because we make all kind of things for these cars
>>
>>544659673
>factoring environmental standards differences
If you factor in these then renewables just automatically win, you don't even have to do real analysis simply because pollution is currently free when it should be expensive. If fossil fuels had to pay for carbon capture they would all instantly go bankrupt.
>and the non-recyclable aspects
All fossil fuels are non-recyclable. Most of the mass of a wind turbine is steel and concrete which is fully recyclable. The only "non recyclble" part of a wind turbine is the blades because they are a composite material. They still could be recycled if you wanted to but really why bother, they are non toxic and inert, essentially sand shaped in funny ways. 100% recyclability is a meme no one expects out of anything but wind for some reason.
>batteries
Wind doesn't require batteries.

All power plants require cabling.

>>544659946
Fiberglass is the blade. It's non toxic and inert and if you wanted to you could recycle it, there's just no point because fiberglass is just funny shaped sand, it's the same stuff ground is made out of. Even if you don't recycle it wind turbine is around 99% recyclable by mass. A fossil fuel power plant is maybe 1-2% depending on the fuel.

'germans' of the thinking sort did not vote for the removal of nuclear energy. quite to the contrary. the whole 'nuclear no thanks' movement is ..well, jewish. can you guess the end goal in this? are you aware what massive wealth transfer switching off nuclear was? the energy jews got paid for lost revenue. did you vote for a tide of migrants that don't match culturally? for billioniares to build bunkers?

Kill yourself anti-nuclear niggerkike.

yes, i owned a 1979 golf. and an octavia before that. never a trabant. too snobby for that. we do have quite a few trabants driving around here. makes me smile, but stinks too.

>being pro renewable means you're anti nuclear
A sign of a low iq retard thinking this

Germany has neither in it's reserves.

They have this monster machine digging up farmland to burn peat. They've destroyed entire villages etc it's unreal

Anon your talking points are 15 years out of date. Wind turbines are one of the cheapest sources of electricity per megawatthour and have been for a long time. Even wind at sea doesn't get subsidies anymore. The construction cost is miniscule compared to the generated electricity over the liftime, yes that includes the energy needed for creating the steel beams and fiberglass blades.
Nuclear is the most heavily subsidised and least economical form of energy btw. And NEVER pays itself off overr its liftime.

You are anti-nuclear though, and probably a russian shill. Everyone knows the "renewable" germany is completely reliant on russian gas, oil and coal thanks to denuclearization. That's why you faggots needed to have Sleepy Joe close the tap for you.

>you are nuclear though
>no I'm not we should build out nuclear and renewables
>REEEE YOURE LYING
lmao
The best network is some nuclear powerplants for a base output with the rest being provided by renewables.

Why can't we live in a world where people use nuclear and green energy? I want EVUROPEAN solar panels and windmills and western Nuclear facilities. I'm tired of the west having to pay trillions to brown arab jeets in the middle east or the kikes in Russia for Goyil.

in some places near here it used to look like the surface of the moon right behind the back garden fence. they've done a pretty good job terraforming this into a lake landscape. marinas now even. those villages are gone though, the communities sacrificed for line must go up.

Savonius rotors are complete and utter trash attractive to the gullible because it looks high tech. Poor aerodynamic performance, high dynamic stresses and unsafe due to the active brakes needed (a normal turbine can pitch its blades into the wind and stop generating torque in seconds, no active brake needed).

Wind is typically helped by hills and mountains my guy its why wind turbines are usually built along ridgelines. Flat land means poor atmospheric variation consequently poor turbine wind - I'm guess you're thinking the ocean is flat yes but water creates a heat engine boosting wind. Brown coal could be energetic I agree. Maybe low head hydro its a 500m drop south to north

This is why France has 115% debt to gdp and Germany only 63%. Nice cheap energy funded by the state debt. This is why mr memeflag loves nuclear, it serves the interest jew.

holy nigger tier intellecz there are many 15mw offshores already built, that one probably just a test project to see whats possible on land and whether its worth it or not to build to a certain height
>>
>>544662774
You really should take a look at a wind resource map sometimes.
>>
>>544662699
oh, we still use nuclear energy, only now we purchase it from our merchant neighbours. we also use a lot of green energy. basically an ideal world here. we still need to pay the jew though one way or other. there's no avoiding that, innit.
