i would assume the chinese have different safety standards, which makes it possible for them to offer cheaper EVs and cars. and perhaps those cheaper EVs are good for 10-20 years but start crapping out afterward. who knows. there are many claims that tesla cars start crapping out in under 15 years, too.it does suck that we can't just buy chink cars to see for ourselves. we can't even easily buy many jap made cars.
