What makes these countries different from the ones not protesting or from one another?

Iberia is a peninsula separated by the Pyrenees, Italy is a peninsula separated by the Alps which also separates Germany from them all. These forms of seclusion made their languages different. Albania is the coastal plain bordering Puglia covered by the Balkan Mountains so they also developed their own unique language. Belgium is just something we made up so they would stop fighting each other.

the plateau separating Luxembourg from Belgium and Germany is called the Ardennes. not quite a mountain range so it didn't create a new language or anything special, but enough to make communication difficult.

Even within Spain there are different dialects, some of them I can make sense of and some I can't at all. There is an island in the Azores where they supposedly speak Portuguese but because there was some weird migratory influx over the centuries they have a weird French or whatever accent and most people can't make any sense of wtf they're saying. They might as well be foreign. Then we have a bunch of words that are similar in English even like you use the word "separated" we say "separado" it's not so different. Even though there was war, there's some kind of cultural connection between the western Europe Atlantic coastal countries I'd say, going back to the bronze age even. Don't think it makes much sense to reduce language to certain borders. It's more of a tool to assert your identity. If we spoke Spanish I'm sure we would have been absorbed long ago.

that is because of the Bay of Biscay, we call it the Celtic Sea. Galicia is part of Spain now so this may be obscured in Portugal.

When you look at the bathymetry (ocean depth) it kind of resembles a mountain range. It would have determined sea routes like land routes.

Germans did protesting right because it was actually Germans doing it. The "French" and "Italians" are rioting.
>>

we had riots in 2024 and it was whites doing it after gypsies did their own. sometimes blacks and pakis riot too, at different times, sometimes together. ours were foreshadowed by riots in the Republic of Ireland a year before. and Northern Ireland just had riots a few months ago. we are not on the map now so it makes it looks like we're an ocean of nordic calm surrounded by mediterranean chaos, as per ethnic stereotypes. other countries are probably similar. Serbia and Romania have had massive protests recently. Life in Greece is a lifelong protest.

Yea, that's interesting. I was looking into it and apparently those waters can be quite dangerous to navigate mostly because of the way the water behaves on those abrupt depth-difference lines. I was aware of the bronze age atlantic culture but not how hard it would have been to navigate it, specially back then. Seems like they had to wait for ideal conditions from what I'm reading, even stopping the voyage half way through for weeks.

Bulgaria and Macedonia too. in fact the protests in Albania were probably catalysed by the ones in North Macedonia over rights to Albanian language earlier this summer.

that's probably why they speak different languages. but Celts dealing with Iberia has always been a part of their mythos, perhaps Portugal isn't aware of that. Spain does seems to be aware of it.

We are, several people will claim we are of celtic roots. It's mostly a debate for fringe people, most people do not delve into it. Everyone is aware of the Lusitaneans though, which are of great importance to our roots. For example one of the Lusitanean gods was called Lugus and related to commerce and trade which seems related to the Irish Lug, so there's definitely some kind of connection. It's all obscure and foggy though.
Most people have an affinity with England just because of regular history, oldest ally, etc.
