In Alberta political dynamics and polling on western independence, educational attainment displays a strong inverse relationship with support for Alberta separation. Higher levels of formal education correspond with higher rates of support for remaining in Canada ("No" votes), while lower formal educational attainment correlates with higher support for separation ("Yes" votes).

Key Patterns by Educational Attainment
University Graduates / Higher Education:
Voters holding a university degree (bachelor's or higher) consistently show the lowest levels of support for separation. Academic research and demographic polling (such as the Viewpoint Alberta studies by the University of Alberta) demonstrate that roughly 25% or less of university-educated Albertans back independence. These voters overwhelmingly favor remaining in Confederation, citing concerns about economic disruption, international trade barriers, currency transition, and constitutional instability.

College / Trades / Technical Training:
Voters with some post-secondary education, diploma credentials, or trades qualifications form a middle ground, showing slightly higher separatist sympathies—ranging between 30% and 36% support—than degree holders.

High School Education or Less:
Support for separation peaks among voters whose highest level of completed education is high school or lower. In this demographic, sympathy for separatism and autonomy measures has historically reached between 35% and 40%+ in demographic tracking.

So people who work with their hands/didnt have educational opportunities/lower socio-economoc status want to separate and those who grew up with privilege/corpos/HR types want to stay?

Yes. It's always the same story throughout history. Academics are always THE LAST to join in a legit uprising. Because they are the heel of the boot stomping on the faces of the working class while looking down on them. These same people are the journalists advocating for the elites and against your interests at every turn.

Except this is wrong. Literally every success revolution of modern history, including the French Revolution, including the October Revolution, all started with academics who were in fact practicing open civil disobedience years before the masses caught on and joined them.
