A lot of things are cheaper today than they have ever been.

>The average 19-inch color TV back then would run you upwards of $350,which when adjusted for inflation, costs roughly $3,300 in 2026 bills and coins. In 2026, a typical 55-inch 4K TV at Best Buy may only run you as little as$300

I remember having a TV... it was a little GE portable.
I had to fix it three times, had to keep replace a transistor. Back when I had a brain and no money... Cost me $300. Big investment. Mind you a semester at uni cost $100 fees and $100 books.

You're forgetting something.

So I've done a lot of research over the years. Luxuries like TV's were incredibly expensive, sure. But regular life stuff like food, rent, or even houses were considerably cheaper based on inflation

As an example, the house I live in now probably cost 25000 when it was built in 1970. Now that house costs 400k. Adjusting for inflation alone, my house should only be worth around 200k.

What pollsters and political talking heads and the various cocksucking retards running for office can't seem to (or can't publicly) address is that there's simply a general malaise gripping the entire country. It's causes are many. And even if they aren't in a bad mood 100% of the time, no one likes anything going on and everyone is unhappy. Add high fuel prices on top of that and pretty much no current party would have a chance of holding onto what they have.

Oh but good, the worst lowest contrast shitty version of an LCD with bad refresh rate that I only need to buy once every 10 years or so is cheaper.

Older TVs also didn't support Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, had no HDR, no HDMI, didn't support 7.1 digital surround with Sonos integration, they were smaller in viewing size, but bigger in actual size and weight, worse color accuracy, worse power consumption, and shot X rays at your face.

Right because the technology completely changed. Old tvs are a shit ton of expensive curved glass and the internals were also expensive. TV repair man used to be a trade because you bought one and kept it for 10 to 15 years. TVs are cheap plastic a motherboard and the screen projection is no longer glass. There are a couple of different options and ways to do it but they are all fraction of the cost to produce compared to what was going on before.

But OP already knew this. He is just a rightoid kike shill and he purposely zoned in on this one product because he thinks he's clever but he's actually a retard. Couldn't even subvert the 10 year to come into his van for candy. Total loser and probably jewish.

All currency value changes, especially fiat currency, but even if it was pegged to a hard asset like gold that still changes in value. Having the currency go completely tits up is a possibility but it hasnt happened, even with recent mass printing and hacks taken at the petrodollar. I know you all want to blame your troubles on something external, but this is still a better economy than '08, or the 80s. American consumer spending as a share of GDP has increased exponentially decade over decade no matter how bad people perceive the economy to be. It's honestly pretty cheap to eat if you cook at home. Got to avoid beef and MOST non-staple vegetables though.

Cooking at home cost less than $100 a month per adult. I'm talking eating good too not barely getting by. Soup, chicken and rice, lasagna, hell most anything involving bread and pasta.
It absolutely takes time though if you are going to maximize savings. Anyone claiming "It's quick and easy" is full of shit. Easy? Yes. Quick? Nope. Having your workflow and planning down to an art will still cost you time, so you have to plan that shit in advance. People who live alone working 16 hour days are pretty much fucked when it comes to making home meals.

Honestly, it's MUCH cheaper to live if you are married and the spouse doesn't have a job to focus on home maintenance and meal prep. It's one of the things that bother me about two income households, especially when the wife almost invariably makes purchases out of her income range (newer car for example). The amount of cash wasted by having a second income is pretty batshit.

Not relative to salaries. A basic sedan is still about a years median wage. Modern cars also last much longer than they used to no matter what incestuous rednecks and boomers who are too retarded to learn what an injector map is say to the contrary. Any car made in the last 35 years will make it to about 300,000 miles with routine maintenance. Cars made back in the carburetor days would rarely make it to 100,000 miles. They only had 5 digit odometers because they did not expect the car to last long enough to reach six figure mileage. Rust proofing was also much worse than it is today so unless you lived in the south your car would be a rusty mess in a few years. They also required much more frequent maintenance and used a lot more gas which cost about the same as it does now adjusted for inflation.

You only buy a TV once in five to ten years. You buy food and fuel every day. You're a moron.

Anyone who thinks cars were better in the past is a fucking idiot or a boomer with rose tinted glasses. I knew some old firefighters and cops who worked back then, car accidents were absolutely gruesome. My nextdoor neighbor knows what a woman burning to death inside a vw beetle sounds like. The only thing more dangerous to drive than a classic car is a small classic car. Do not buy a subcompact made before the 2000s, they are deadly.

>the same engines would last a lot longer
>>544711357

ey bros, our roads here are still full of commie 2 stroke bikes from ages ago. africa is also full of old shit with over a million miles down.

im not going to go too deep into engineering here, but the more complexity you add to a system the faster it goes down the shitter, this is a statistics problem actually, not even engineering.
modern trash cars will probably refuse to start because the automatic rain detection isnt working or some shit like that.

the general rule is that motors with the same volume last longer the less powerful they are, this is also in juxtaposition to modern cars that squeeze every little bit of power out. as a downside old motors eat more fuel and oil

What you say is correct, but I can give better examples.
Video games have largely stayed the same or gone down. Even if you want to argue that blurays are much cheaper than cartridges (which they are), the amount of general inflation more than accounts for it.

All the way to the 90s it was nearly expected that most cars would spend a good deal of time in the shop because there was always something breaking on them.

No, they are not, you liar!
Those TVs weren't made using trash tier recycled black plastics filled with toxic carcinogens that destroy male virility. Those TVs were made in America by people with work ethics who were proud of their trade.

When talking about houses you have to factor in the development of the area. You cant just multiply by inflation and call it a day.
If your grandparents bought that shit when it was almost barrenland, or too fat away from shit but then a real city was developed, then yes, it will cost more than just multiplying by inflation. There are a dozen of things to consider. Id say talking about food makes a more clear idea.
>>
>>544701580
Why don't you suck these nuts pal? Do it for free and I'll write an article about how inflation is cooling instead of telling gen alpha that boomers heads are basically piggybanks.

>I was paid about one ounce of silver every hour.
No, you weren't. You were paid like $4 in federal reserve notes every hour. No one was paying you in silver for the same reason that you didn't immediately go out and convert those $4 worth of FRNs into silver, which is also the reason why the spot price of silver in 1993 was about ~$4/oz.
Silver was around the all time lows then when adjusted for inflation. Silver was extremely cheap relative to the value of the dollar because no one wanted silver in 1993, they wanted dollars.
And if Arbys had actually tried to pay you in silver in 1993, 16 year old (You) would have been furious and insisted that they pay you in real money instead.

you are the last person to lecture anyone about car reliability klaus. Africans keep their cars that long because they are dirt ass poor so they have no choice but to keep patching them up cuban style. Oh, and the trabants designers were so retarded they only put a freewheel on 4th gear so if you try to coast in gear the engine will seize on you and the body panels are made of shredded russian pants.

This is a 50s house. It's a tiny shoebox made with sketchy building standards. They who complain about inflation of housing prices fail to realize that the standards for houses are a lot higher now.
>>

Nobody will admit it but a big part of the affordability problem is that everyone wants the 21st century upper middle class lifestyle working at a shitty warehouse job.

I have a 1974 Sony that still works, sure it was expensive new but now new TV no matter how much will last over 50 years. It was the first one Sony made with a remote- 17 inch tube but it weighs over 50lb in a real wood cabinet.
>>
The other thing was back then you could hire your buddy Fred who used to be an electrician at a Navy shipyard during the war to install a sketchy home electrical system that would never pass code today.

Also yes, health care. 50s cars were terribly unsafe, but in an accident you also just generally had a lower chance of survival because trauma care was so much less advanced. Cancer couldn't be treated and the first high blood pressure drugs didn't arrive until the 60s. Heart attacks and strokes in middle age were much more common back then. Eisenhower received what was then an experimental heart bypass procedure in 1955 and the doctors when learning who the patient was (initially told it was "a retired Army general") were worried about operating on him as they didn't know if it would actually work and not kill him.

German cars an an example of the Keep It Simple, Stupid philosophy. They're perfectly solid in Europe, it's just that USDM models have all the high trim levels and gadgets that add failure points. If we could get a taxi trim diesel Audi here we'd have a different take on them.

I do get that you're trying to be objective but development is inherently a relative measurement, beyond his anecdotal experience when comparing against the mean or median this anon is still largely correct, housing prices here are ridiculous and it is a core concern for literally everyone who doesn't own one.

This is actually exactly why boomers don't understand the cost of living complaints of younger generations. their ENTIRE fucking world revolves around television and has their entire life. And for most of their life, how big and fancy your TV was was a big indicator of how successful you were as a person. They would get in first fights on black Friday to get the limited TV deals.
So when they see some 55 inch TCL TV at Walmart for $200, they immediately dismiss all complaints made by younger generations who don't know how good they have it. Nevermind the extreme cost of housing, cars, food, health care, energy and everything else that is actually crucial in life, goyboxes are cheap therefore life is cheap.
