it had 2200 euro worth of components inside

the machine in question was from year 2023 and Spanish guy took it to pawnshop (it is collateral based lender company, they give you 550 euro in cash and take away your computer, you get the computer back when you pay the cash back, later, they will also take some kind of fee when you fetch your computer back in addition to 550 euro cash)

>the Spaniard was never able to gather 550 euro to get his computer back

>another man want to pawnshop and asked "can I buy that computer" and pawnshop agreed as the original owner had been away for quite a while

but when he opened the computer at home it contained 2200 euro worth of parts!

> Intel Core i9-14900KS CPU (this CPU had retail price of 600 euro a few years ago)
>Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti (this alone is worth more than 550 euro, even when used)
>it also had 64GB of DDR5 RAM which cost a fortune today

Why not just use a $100 old thinkpad

The only PCs ever in a pawn shop are always banned components or sold off by drug addicts, retards don't know but once you get hardware banned, anyone who uses that gets banned forever on their account as well. This effectively killed off the 2nd hand PC market, unless they show you online games work on it before buying.
>>
>>544724857
is the motherboard the thing that has been banned?

or do CPUs and GPUs have somekind of serial number which identify them online and link them to banned accounts?

RAMs certainly cannot be branded such a way
>>
>>544724678
I have to slouch my neck to look down at it
>>
>>544724857
what you on about. there’s no hardware ban in any online game.

>man makes 1,700 euros

How is this even newsworthy? Are euros so poor that a grand and a half is this extraordinary thing that others need to know about?
>>
>>544725451
Yup, they can ban all sorts if components even if they don't have too. Alot of these anti-cheats run at the kernel level so theres really no way to prevent them from getting the info that a manufacturer would be able to. I'm not sure if ram would be serialized by the manufacturer but I wouldn't be suprised given it's price and warranty.
>>
I see cases like this pop up more often.
For me it looks like a case of trying to washing fraudulent/hw banned/stolen or funneled components.

>Like buying a new iphone for 800.

As far back as Windows XP Microshit have been using a hardware ID tag that's created using a combination of hardware components. It's kind of like a checksum created using a combination of hardware/device ID's and probably serial number of your hard drive which seems to have become a standard feature.

In Winblows 10/11 they even show it to you on the registration screen that's how cucked PC users have become. Games probably use it these days to ban the computer.

Shouldn't there be bigger market for this shit then? Surely there must be reasonable amount of people who want hardware banned from multiplayer shit but good for everything else

it's an advertorial to promote pawnshop sales. The world is getting poorer so pawnshops profits are not what they used to be. more people are pawning than buying. So go quickly to your local pawn shop and buy something, you might strike gold like the hero of the story

Re Assemble PC on another motherboard, fresh Win install
Problem solved.

>>544726870
you telling me the finnish news fag is doing sponsored content now?
>>
>>544726872
How much does it cost though? if you replace the motherboard you also need to buy a new Winblows key.
>>
>>544727190
Not really. I have the same windows installation going back to like 2010. Three or four different motherboards on the same 128gb SSD. Windows just annoys me every three days to activate Microsoft account which I decline.
>>
the components of my computer are probably worth about 1500~ bucks lol, from 2023, but I got it for about 700 bucks I think.

Delusional

>more people are pawning than buying.

Pawn shops are mostly stolen shit by browns
>>
>>544723709
I got my parts for $5,500 in 2025.
To rebuild with the same exact parts would cost $9,000 now. Fucking insane

Intel tried to add a processor serial number in the late 1990's and there was a massive privacy backlash. Today a hardware serial is not only standard but Microshit show it to you. KEKED!
>>

>Surely there must be reasonable amount of people who want hardware banned from multiplayer shit but good for everything else
Only in the fact that they wan't it cheaper. Most people that are trying to sell banned hardware are trying to get market price.

There are corporate processors that are locked down to specific motherboards and computers that are hard locked to prevent theft of corprate data but that's another thing. You can run into those when buying second hand laptops for example.

New MBs costs $100-150, used previous gen (our case) $20-30.
"Grey" win key costs $5-10

Just wait until they find out about minix.

>Intel Management Engine: A closed-source variant of MINIX 3 runs inside Intel's ME (PCH) on modern Intel chips, which some commentators jokingly (or seriously) call it "the world's most widely deployed OS."
