I lived in Normandy and Milan but I also traveled all over Europe. Europe can be quite nice but white suburban America genuinely shits on it and it’s really not even close. Urban Europe actually kinda sucks, unlike a handful of American cities. I actually liked Pittsburgh more than I liked Rome or Paris.

Europeans will show you pictures of these very old beautiful city centers and countryside villages within renaissance era buildings that look really nice but what they won’t tell you is none of them live there. Those places are filled almost exclusively with uber wealthy boomers. The places the Europeans you actually interact with live in are either these cracked and shitty old complexes or suburbs/exurbs that are indistinguishable from American ones. England is a perfect example. The Britishers you talk to on here don’t live in the Cotswolds or Mayfair. They live in some row home filled suburb that make Conshohocken row homes look like palaces.
