we don't even look at qualifications anymore, we have an at home questionnaire and a practical test. the quality of our hires went up noticably.

Fuck off. NAIT is one of the top instrumentation schools in north America and specialize in oildfield and natural gas training.

Instrumentation is one of the highest paying technical trades. I know people from there who do contracts in Kuwait, Dakotas, gulf of mexico, etc and bought their first home at 22, paid it off at 30. You cost of living, food ,etc is paid for as you live and work in camps, 12 days on 12 days off. When overseas they fly you home or a halfway point (like london england or whatever) for your time off.

Very few professions pay a kid right out of school $70/hr off of a 2-year diploma, but that one for NAIT is one of them. Virtually a 100% chance at multiple job offers before you even graduate.

Or if you don't want the camp life, you can work from home programming PLCs and doing remote monitoring work. pay is still decent.

To put that in perspective, here is a software engineer (computer science degree plus 10+ years experience required) specializing in AI in the same province.
With 10 years experience and university degree they are barely matching an instrumentation tech right out of tech school.

I already was a red seal journeyman in electrical and instrumentation nigger. I can literally fix anything in wh*Tes built in canada blindfolded i can literally put together an I/P and rosemount transmitter blindfolded in a cave with scraps. Not mention i was a former F-18 mechanic in the canadian air force.
