I read this story a few days ago. He found the guy dead and ran a scheme to convince people that he had no living relatives, that they were friends, and that he left the house to him before dying. The craziest part is that he then spent months and paid more than $200k to do repairs and upgrades on the house. Then the dead guy’s family showed up, took the house back, and the cop guy got thrown in jail. So he basically just paid $200k plus to upgrade that dead guy’s family’s house.
