It is only pure fucking luck when you have people who actually worked jobs requiring serious intellect like doctor or engineer etc get into politics, instead of usually being some kind of lawyer or finance background. Because being a politician is generally about passing or blocking laws, tons of them are lawyer background. Lawyers are not inventors or scientists, they are not delving into human knowledge to build on and expand it for the good of everyone. Law is a profession of purely arbitrary human sentiments put to paper assembled into a repository of governance. It’s supposed to be condensed didactic power, the righteous wielding of justice, but in reality tons of them are effectively Saul Goodman shysters with no actual moral code whatsoever but just a tryhard competitive mindset where it’s debate club and the most heinous horrible people can still get off light (or off the hook) if they pay well enough, that bending the law into pretzels to be ineffective even when it should be slam dunk is a useful skill instead of making you a subverter and perverter of justice. If anything I would vote to ban fucking lawyers from being politicians at all, people whose entire ability in life is to distort and bullshit their way through should be the fucking last ones negotiating laws that govern us all. Yet they are the first ones. We would probably have a lot less lobbying and bribing going on if they were banned all around from political office. Again tons of lawyers are literally expert fucking cheaters and bullshitters, what a fucking surprise so many of them are happy to be bribed and happy to reject any sound argument just to hold up their party for the sake of the “must ALWAYS win even if I am defending a child raper, so long as he pays me handsomely for it” credo.

It was different like 100 years back when there was shit to discover that could actually affect the world. Nowadays, how you project your knowledge in STEM is not as pretty or influential as how you would politics, which is more metaphysical.Like, I can say that I learned the fundamental forces of nature during university and sound cool. In truth, I work making household cleaning chemicals which is not as bombastic.
