It’s a former nigger plantation.
If it’s anything like the other two Guyanas then jeets have flooded into it because jeets, somehow, are an even cheaper quasi-human labourers than niggers are.

It would have been a nice place when natives lived there, it could have been paradise if white nations had made a concerted effort to populate it exclusively with French or Dutch or Brits, but this world never works the way it should, so now, I would guess, it’s just another nigger-jeet shithole.

Well first of all for the context I live in mainland France, I've been to French Guiana only twice when I was a kid, I'm 31 now so I will not speak as a local but I think that right now on /pol I'm the one knowing this oversea region of France the better
The launch facility is guarded by the army 24/7 and regularly launches satellites and shiet all the time, locals always appreciate the spectacle but nothing really special about it, some say the launches releases a lot of toxic fumes in the atmosphere.
Obviously the most notorious source of revenue is gold, it's litteral eldorado, you can find gold il pretty much all of the rivers there's videos about it on TikTok.
They're hardly europeans tourists, it's mostly white european French people.

>>544807280
No problem
In French Guiana almost a third of the population are illegals coming from Brazil, Haïti, Surinam, Guyana, Peru, Bolivia, they work in trades for the most part and build shitty favelas-like neighborhoods.
Traditionnel French Guyanese, like the Creoles work in tertiary sector, in politics, or in offices for the Government.
Guyanese natives (amerindians) most likely survives on gibs and alcool.
Marroons in west of the country survives from smuggling cocaine into mainland France and gibs
Yes people vote, the Creoles vote en masse for Le Pen as well as the French islands of Martinique And Guadeloupe
Also tourism isn't even half as big as in those two islands, Guiana has a reputation of being much more dangerous
>>
>>544807280
I suggest you move there. The Guyanas used to be a dumping ground for saars from the British Raj, and nowadays they the second most developed place of the Indian world after Bradford

>Do you know about Guyana and Trinidad ? They have a huge indian héritage and population there.

yes, I am aware of the Indian diaspora in the indies. In political terms, I would say they are better off than the Indian diaspora in fiji, though there is a big rivalry between the carribean africans and Indians. One of bush's advisor, a higher up, maybe secretary of defense, was of carribean africans descent and he was dead set against India.

V S naipaul, a famous writer was from there, leaders from there are regular attendes of the Hindi diwas, or hindi day along with the diaspora in Mauritius and fiji. Also a lot of Indian origin cricketers from there.

Did not know about the Javanese though

Pretty much everywhere the brits got into sugarcane farming, you will find descendants of indentured people taken from india

>also know there are tensions between Mauritius of hindu ethnicity but on the Island for centuries and more recent hindus immigrants

did not know about this, I will say though that the indentured people mostly came from the eastern part of India, and people from there are fixed in their culture, I mean one of their most sacred sites in Mauritius is the Ganga kund, a man made lake where they have filled in water from Ganga. At that level of synchrocity, tensions cannot last for long

>>544810734
Oh it's like day and night, althought FG changed a lot in the last 20 years it's still backward in terms of infrastructure outside the Creoles cities like Cayenne/Kourou
There is rampant criminality too but it's manageable if you know the codes, it's still safer than most places in South America but shithole tier when compared to safe regions in mainland France
Also people tend to be much more nicer there despite the poverty, nature there is spectacular and life is less stressful, actually a lot of white French people go live in the overseas every year and never go back to Europe.
I don't plan to stay in mainland, France is most likely doomed, I don't think that you're a muslim indian so I will say it, but these arabs and muslim west africans have turned France into a shithole, every community hate the other and whites hates themselves between the leftists and the nationalists, the social climate is basically shit and the economy and job market have never been this bad since WW2
I plan to live in the US if possible, if not I guess I will try to survive in mainland or go to French Guiana as I still have some family there or maybe even in Martinique island wich is known to be one of the most beautiful carribean island and more safe than Guadeloupe, I'm good with what God plans for me eitherway
>>
>>544811596
It's tough everywhere man, though france's ills are their own doing. Importing in millions of a different culture, ones who will not assimilate, will survive on gibs and who will enforce their worldview onto you was a poor strategy.

They should have course corrected once they had enough feedback of the original stock instead of increasing further.

I would say if you have a couple of months and some spare change, india also has a couple of cities where French is one of the official languages. Outside of the big cities, india has a very undemanding easy pace of life.

Though all the best to you and godspeed in your endeavours, mat you find contentment
>>

I went there. it's Portugal sized, 15% of french soil.
Southern half is mostly inhabitated and more or less forbidden (unless scientifical expedition), there a dozen villages and some illegal and mostly brazilian gold seekers camps. Untouched amazonian forest without agriculture.

The habitated coast has a mixed population of
-natives (a few peoples/tribes)
-descendants of early escaped african slaves, "afro amazonian peoples" different from afro american carribeans from the Antilles.
-creoles, europeans, lebanese, chinese, brazilians, haitians, surinamese, then there is a village of Hmongs (asians from our former colony of Indochina) called Cacao, who is responsible of most of the agriculture here.
French/euro space program is located in Kourou, a few camps of french légionnaires, mining activities, remains of old prisons, two huge rivers that are used to transport and are uncontrollable frontiers, but it's mostly forest. Most frenchs from the mainland never visit Guyane.

I hope I will return and pass more time in Suriname and Brazil too.

Yes. I went as a teenager in post high school holidays. I was raised in a bit of folklore, as my parents met and lived a few years in Guyana. Best friend of my dad is a legal gold miner.

One weird month, night hunting for (small) alligators, drinking with cemetary workers at Saint Laurent, then meeting some old friends of my parents, town of Cacao, Kourou rocket launch, rahch with zebu cattle, then a few days in Oaipoque and a day trip in Albina, Suriname with my parents.

I hesitate to move here since my travel, but all my family and friends are mainland. I don't want to fly on the atlantic every year ro so.
I'm into "amazonian civilizations" and french overseas territories, but far more educated about the history of southern France where I grew up.

I still have memories of sceneries, scents, music, the heat, etc, but nothing really vivid.
It seems like you really loved Guiana, it's funny how it's either a hit or miss when people visit it.
Also the people that love F.G aren't the same who appreciate the Caribbean islands, it's generally people who love nature, vast lands free of humans and this appetite for aventure and liberty

Probably my best travel, 20 years ago. But I tend to travel more. I went in Guadeloupe too and had good memories but as a child, and yes the nature is a big part of my interest. I must pass some time in Peru or Brazil and have to re try ayahuasca there.

Did you look for archives of your guyanese family? I have creole friends who can trace back some of their ancestors 2 or 3 centuries ago.

For F Guyana it's now a popular place for exploration vloggers, fishing too, I don't see as many coke smuggling stories as a few years ago.
I have this book near me, Maufrais expedition too. I lack some more ethnological or historical readings, if you have advices.

One of my best memories :

>two polish workers are with us, I'm their official translator as we speak some english
>everyone is drunk on the classical rum/limejuice/sugar syrup cocktail
>the hunts consists at shooting any animal eyes reflecting our lamps.
>most animals stay frozen by our "alien" lights for a few seconds
>"well it's a possum, who will eat ?"
>then guide is briefly lost, circling around us
>trees falling because of the rain
>thousands of kilometers of forest if we walk in the wrong direction
>guides finds the path
>someone shoots a (little) alligator
>I bear the alligator in my back for the return
>every 3 or 7 minutes or so it had unpredictible big agony spasms on my back and I shit myself.
>a few days after we ate this alligator cooked by a brazilian rasta whose dreadlocks touched the ground

This is not nomal in mainland France.

It's a very mystical place
The natives of the Guianas used to believe that this land was somehow the house of God on Earth or something like that, Europeans took a long time to tame the nature just to survive but really it's paradise on Earth, the biodiversity is just unmatched
A lot of big pharma labs go there and asks natives what plants they use and then research the molecules etc, it's well documented

When it’s not being used for nuclear tests I’m sure it’s fine, though if the rest of Polynesia is anything to go by the natives are genetically predisposed to grow fat easily and are habitually violent due to the warrior gene.

Fun fact, the French CIA literally bombed a green peace boat in NZ and killed two of them just to stop them interfering with nuclear testing in the 80s. Not sure if that’s technically based but in fairness it was frog on Anglo violence so I deplore it.
