Oktoberfest is really just what everyone else calls going to the pub/bar, which happens every week in other Western nations. When it was created it was an actual festival more like the Kentucky derby or Royal Ascot, with horse racing as the main thing. Now its just... a month where going to the pub and drinking beer is given a special name.
