It seems literally like christmas which you have less than a month later, same food, same family, just without the tree?
>>
Thanksgiving is turkey. Christmas is ham. Need I say more?
>>
I did a ham for leafsgiving

You're right I am British and we have Turkey for Christmas.
>>

Thanksgiving kicks off the holiday season. Foreigners don't know this, but America goes on sleep mode for a few months between Thanksgiving and the first few weeks of New Year. Big holiday season, lots of time off, winter starting. It's a really cozy comfy time and makes the rest of the year's struggle worth it.
>>
>>544818996
This image seems to more resemble a British Sunday dinner than a Thanksgiving dinner from what I could see on google images.
>>
>>544819630
Sounds cushty anon, we only have advent calendars and slop for the goys.
>>
CORR THAT IS LUSH LOIKE
MISSING: YORKSHIRE PUDDING AND GRAVY
>>

It becomes really casual for a few months. People take off time for work, industry slows down, lots of time off, kind of a remaining invisible cultural thing where we are like fuck it from Thanksgiving until like the second week of January. Comfy times.

>>
>>544818996
Totally different fall holiday with turkey and football
>>
Turkey is obviously the main meal but that doesnt mean you shouldnt cook other options. Ive always had Ham, Pig, Beef as options to my guess as well as the regular side dishes and more
>>
>>544820375
You can eat ham or beef on Christmas, but for Thanksgiving it is always turkey, pumpkin pie, green beans. Christmas is when you get creative.
>>
>>544818996
We eat turkey at one and ham at the other.
>>
>>544819326
Not really at all, no Church to attend, no gifts to bring besides food, it's like a friends and family potluck and the beers/alcohol and football.
>>
>>544820516
Turkey with 2 pounds of butter under the skin otherwise it's inedible. Fuck green beans.
>>
>>544819580
We usually have ham for Christmas. What better way is there to celebrate the birth of the King of the Jews than eating pork?
>>
>>544820477
I had duck once. Wonderful dinner.
>>
Fat people like celebration with food
>>
>>544819356
For us Southerners, pecan pie and sweet potato pie are mandatory for both. Marshmallow salad is more Thanksgiving to me. Fudge is more Christmas.
>>
>>544819637
There's no green bean casserole. Not an American Thanksgiving without it. Also we put the sausage in the dressing.
>>
>>544820375
waste of mushrooms, foie and tendie it fucking sucks
>>
Gee wilikers that looks too spicy for me!
>>
>>544818996
Do you not? It's more of an embracing of American mythology, if anything. The notion of breaking bread being sacred goes back millennia. Anyway, who cares, we won (against the wrong Indians).

Turkey is dogshit meat usually, but if you brine the bird well, it's hard to fuck it up (I did duck one year when it was me and my dad, and he loved it). Ideally, we'd cook something fattier and juicier like goose. I may get a hunting license this year for just that reason. Haven't been in more than a decade, but, I'm far away from where my family used to hunt. Still a decent shot, and I hate geese. I hate them so much.
>>
>>544822388
Gonna need TWO glasses of milk to be able to choke that one down, hoss.
>>
>>544822826
Even without wet brining turkey is fine just most people cook it horribly wrong
Something with what 1-2% intramuscular fat should be blasted as high as ovenly possible without scorching the skin, not the xyz per lb nonsense that the majority of retards do to it
turkey can be almost as good as goose or ducky but most people are in fact retarded
