>A convicted sex offender who identifies as transgender was discovered attempting to enroll in a local high school under the pretense of being a 17-year-old girl. “Makayla” Alec Ray Craig, 29, was charged on October 22 with three counts of forgery for allegedly trying to register as a student at Maple Grove High School in Minnesota.
>According to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court, Craig presented himself as a homeless teen named Molly Lennox Fox. In a statement to police, Craig said he was planning to go to school in person to “get the full experience.” He is being held at the Hennepin County Jail on $50,000 bail.
>Maple Grove police released a statement alerting the public of the incident: “On October 19, 2026, a school district employee became suspicious of a student enrollment application. The employee notified a Maple Grove school resource officer, who initiated an investigation. On October 20, 2026, Maple Grove officers located Craig in a public parking ramp. He was arrested on probable cause charges, booked at the Maple Grove Police Department, and later taken to the Hennepin County Jail. Officers also learned that Craig is a registered sex offender in Oregon.”
