A lot of the Mandela effect is because of regional alternative designs and old designs getting changed early on with only the more recent designs surviving into the future (fruit of the loom for example really did change their logo from what people remember). Sometimes its also just a faulty memory. While it is an interesting idea that we are in a simulation or shifting alternate reality this is the line of thinking of crazy people who lack reality testing skills and assume that their memeory is a steel trap that never gets details wrong even if real physical tangible evidence contradicts them.
