Here are your two candidates for President! Secretary of State Marco Rubio vs. New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. It's the battle of the Mariachi.

Who's winning?

I’ll vote for AOC if she makes me her foot slave and lets me worship her feet all day drink her piss, eat her unwashed ass, and lick multiple loads of my cum off her dirty Latina feet.

>>
Rubio is the only non retard in the Trump 47 administration
He's smart enough to know 2028 is basically going to be 2008, where Jesus could run as the Republican candidate and lose
He's sitting this one out. Will probably come back in 2036, maybe 2032 if the Democrat president really fucks things up

In 2008, Republicans ran John McCain with the running mate Sarah Palin. If he didn't get the win, it would have been Huckabee (2nd) or Romney (3rd). There was not a single competent person there, so Dems could run a literal community organizer and win with "vote for Obama just to see what happens and show you aren't racist as an added bonus". Also people hated Bush so much they could run a used napkin as a Democrat and it would win. If Rubio ran for 2028, he'd probably win regardless of who Democrats run. Vance probably would too so long as he stops bringing up Papaw.

As for Democrats, it's easy to say Newsom is the best to run because he looks like the most normal white guy to run, but you need to consider that current day Democrats don't want "normal white guy". Pete Buttigeg has a better shot than Newsom for that. The reason AOC has the BEST shot is because she represents the fast approaching future of the Democratic Party. She's close with Mamdani and will represent socialism/communism, but she's a young, attractive Hispanic woman. She champions trans rights, medicare for all, and everything Bernie stands for and wants without outwardly being an old ugly white jewish man.

If you want a real fight, Marco vs. AOC is the only way. It'll also be fun because Marco REALLY hates communism, so having him on stage with AOC will be great to watch too.

Vance is basically Sarah Palin 2.0 with a Twitter edgelord coat of paint. He has endlessly put his foot in his mouth trying to be Trump's second press secretary instead of being low-profile. Vance has been so much of a public Trump apologist that his 2028 chances are already poisoned; like if Dick Cheney tried to run in 08.

>If Rubio ran in 2028
It would be a crapshoot at best, standing before the firing squad in more realistic scenarios, since Trump is at or near the Bush Line. Rubio is competent, so I wouldn't expect him to run very seriously. Maybe let the Democrats execute a rival like Ted Cruz or JD Vance, since McCain's political reputation and viability as a presidential candidate was never the same after his 08 paddling.
>>
>>544875899
>Also people hated Bush so much they could run a used napkin as a Democrat and it would win.
Exactly
And people hate Trump as much as they hated W if not more. His approval rating is tied with W at this point in 2006. Do you think he's suddenly going to start doing a great job as president when he becomes a lame duck and the public is going to fall in love with him?
Rubio's smart and patient. 2028 is going to be a bad year for whoever the Republican candidate is. More than likely he'll publicly back Vance and let him take the L, it's not like Vance has any record to run on other than being Trump's VP anyway
>>
>>544876449
Eh, I don't think Trump has hit Bush levels of disdain in real world sentiment just yet. With Bush, you could feel it not just on CBS/FOX polling, but in actual real world discussion and feelings. Trumps thing is still mostly just polls and social media sentiment but you don't have the strong disdain like Bush had at the time.

Trump's biggest real life issue is the Iran war/conflict. It isn't as unpopular or comparable to Iraq or Vietnam, but it's his most unpopular move by far and the sooner Trump finishes the conflict or walks away (and thus gas and such goes back to normal), his polling will stabilize. If Iran isn't wrapped up by 2028 though, yes. Republicans lose in 2028 as Iran could easily be framed as a forever war ESPECIALLY if they go full on actual war with Iran (Iraq style) complete with boots on the ground and the like leading into 2028 as well.

It's already more unpopular than Vietnam.

I'm sorry dude, but you have to be living in some R+30 town full of the Hiro Onodas of Trump supporters to believe this. It's not supported by the data except for North Korea-tier cherry picks like "the majority of MAGA Republicans support the president's actions"

I'm in a particularly red area of Florida
Three days ago I was at a work meeting talking with two guys, one a white guy in his early 70s one a wop in his late 50s. Both openly and unapologetic conservative, the wop being a MAGA type and the white guy being an old school conservative
The wop started up about trannies and illegals for a bit and then moved on to how Democrats are going to rig midterms and how we're fucked if they do because Democrats are going to spend us into the poor house
I brought up the fact that Republicans have been in control of everything at the federal level for two years and the national debt has gone up by trillions of dollars and spending has only increased in that time
The white guy shook his head and said Trump isn't a Republican
The wop threw his hands up and said someone has gotten to Trump and it's time for the entire government to be overthrown because neither party is going to fix things
That's your real world discussion and feelings about Trump

Semler isn't the best source. I'd go with CNNs or even a random FOX analysis before him, which both do show that the war is very unpopular (CNN's saying it's as unpopular so my statement regarding the popularity of the war itself is refuted should we go with CNN)

https://www.cnn.com/2026/07/20/politics/iran-war-unpopularity-iraq-vietnam

https://www.fox5dc.com/news/poll-reveals-how-public-support-iran-war-compares-other-us-conflicts

What isn't refuted is that, should the Iran war/conflict be resolved by 2028 or sooner then Trump's numbers stabalize.Considering Iraq and Afganistan were unresolved wars until recently (and were considered forever wars), it made sense that people would want the other party. Should Iran be resolved, that makes it easier for Republicans and they likely win in 2028. If the Iran conflict is still going in 2028 then Republicans lose in 2028
>>
>>544878412
>then Trump's numbers stabalize
Doubt it. The global economy is going to be paying the cost of rebuilding all the oil infrastructure that got droned, and all the VLCCs that hit mines or got smacked by missiles and are writeoffs, and demand will increase as everyone tries to refill their petroleum reserves. Gas prices, which are an important bellwether of economic pain and popularity are likely to be high into the start of 28 presidential primary season in 27.

I also don't think it will be resolved in 28 unless Trump runs into a hard physical limitation. I don't believe Trump is capable of holding any agreement with Iran. The war opened with Pearl Harbor level perfidy. He couldn't stick to the MOU. Any agreement, unless the US military physically runs out of some critical materiel, will be broken because it's not just groveling before the US and giving Trump and Israel everything they want. This war is going to drag on far, far longer than Republican strategists and pollsters want.
>>
>>544878842
The pessimism is definitely understandable but I think the Iran conflict/war gets resolved by 2028. If you want, you can screenshot this and gloat about being right just in case I'm proven incorrect.
>>
>>544879706
Even if it gets resolved now, you still have a very long period of having to pay to fix all the shit that was broken. And that's everything from oilfields to refinery to the VLCCs that carry them across the ocean.

There will be serious economic pain well past the end of open hostilities and that's simply going to wreck the Republicans in the 28 cycle. Shit man, Harris got wrecked because people were still mad about the economy of what was mostly the first 2 years of his term, not the last 2.

I'm currently on my phone now so if the ID changed that's why, but you're still talking to me. I can't say I know everything or half of what will or won't happen obviously, but I do genuinely believe by 2028 we'll be alright regarding the Iran conflict/war and its residual effects on home soil. Again, you can take me to charge on this and make fun of me all day and night if you're proven to be right. I have no problem conceding if when I'm wrong on something.
